Jim Jordan's fearmongering (and more)

Jim Jordan, the Republican congressman from Ohio who had refused to cooperate with investigations into sexual abuse at Ohio State University when he worked as an assistant wrestling coach there, is doubling down on his recent fearmongering about which freedoms are supposedly on the chopping block in the U.S.

He tweeted on Friday: "First, they came for your guns. Then, your gas stoves. Then, your gas cars. What’s next?"

Numerous people were quick to reply to that tweet of his. Author Stephen King's reply to Jordan's "What's next?" was a succinct "You."

However, Amy Washburn, a Democrat running for Congress in 2024 from Wisconsin's Sixth District, put her finger on it with the best response, pointing out a level of offensiveness in his tweet: "You do realize it's Holocaust Remembrance Day, and you're paraphrasing Niemöller, right? You cannot possibly be ignorant enough not to know this."

In fairness to Jim, I think he actually could be ignorant enough not to know it was Holocaust Remembrance Day.

It's pitiful that people still take seriously the party that has turned cartoon candy into the new satanic panic.

Are you referring to Republican heads exploding over the "lesbian M&Ms" controversy? :)

"Fox host Tucker Carlson – who famously flipped out last year when the Green M&M was redesigned to be less sexy – called the new packaging 'woke' and said that the Green M&M 'is now a lesbian maybe?'"

Didn’t they recently release an “all women M&Ms” bag for women’s day or whatever?
I swear companies are combining virtue signally “being woke” for sales and trolling conservative backlash for free publicity.
And it’s honestly hilarious

Yes, they switched out all the “M”s for “W”s.

We shouldn't shame Cucker Tarlson for lusting for a cartoon character given that he's one himself.
