India has seen a revolution. For the first time.A substantial number of people in India declare and remember to pay tax.
India (and Russia) have seen in the last 10 years have seen the rise of a substantial number of oligarchs.Brains hard work also mostly loans funded by the State bank of India are responsible.
Oxfam has published Time to care. They point out half the worlds population exists on 5 dollars a day.If the two richest people sat on wealth piled in $100 bills. The latter would stack into space (100 km).The middle classes would be in chairs while the rest would be on the floor.

Oxfam has the solution tax the 1% richest an extra 0.5%You create jobs. You improve education and health.

Yes, it's about time we re-thought our charitable donation to India. That's a country that can stand on its own two feet nowadays.

The rise of oligarchs is world-wide and contributes to the mess we see today.

I agree with exchemist. Up to a point.India is and has always been a land of extremes .Limited extreme wealth and substantial poverty.India had people with impressive doctorates sweeping the streets.Unless one knew some one the only escape was to emigrate or like Gutam Adani create a massive business empire. There is the impressive tale of how to write of a Ferrari have it parked outside the cops office to be filed as NFA( No further action)
For anyone interested James Crabtree has written Billionaire Raj which after reading will transform anyone into a leading authority on India. He is like Tim Marshall a genius at making learning fun.Due to their high populations to avoid social unrest both India and China will have to create lots of jobs. All the time competing with Robots who work for nothing.

SunrIse i agree with your and Michael Laitman's sentiments. Also to a degree.Humanity must reach a state where we our one family. How does one explain this to someone like Putin. Will at least some of his descendants have encoded in their DNA the longing to strive for eternal strife and warfare.

Some can't be reached. What we can do is to treat each other as members of that one family and support those who would like to overcome the personal barriers to living that ideal.

You raised a Good point here, but it won't be established in India.

To fund the political parties for votebank, those rich people are necessary. And as a reward, taxes imposed upon them won't be increased but there are many occasions to reduce it. That is not the only reward but much more.

This is an Investment game. If one have more money and have right prediction of which party will win in elections, then throwing the money into that appropriate well/pit will reward with Gold.

Viswa thanks for your comment. It is truly astonishing the changes in the last 20 years. Before Politicians traveled in humble Ambassadors and traveled by bicycle to meet constituents. Now the PM car is a state of the art Mercedes (great choice all the other countries presidents are secretly jealous and want one).
Also candidates are jetting in by helicopter and plane. In 10 years India political candidates will spend more than the lots of European countries including the UK at this rate. Its everywhere. Sri Lanka has a big public sector.A lot of jobs go to voters. One reason for their financial problems.

Indian taxes are already high. It will be counter-productive to increase them any further, people will move away from India. When the rich have money, they invest in new ventures, thus bringing more taxes and employment. Things must have balance.
