I dont know if I asked this before but in case not: How would you go about teaching 2 year olds how to tie shoes? I've had 2 two year olds get mad and not want me to tie their shoes cuz they want to do it and they wanna tie it themselves tho they don't know how. And a lot of the two year olds like to untie my shoes and they attempt to tie them tho they dont know how. I dont know if they could learn it at this stage and they may not have the motor skills but perhaps I could provide a foundation for learning how to? Even if I can't get them to tie shoes just yet I only want to provide the foundation at the least. Since they seem so interested in shoes...i will also add the 3-4 year old class also likes untie then try to tie shoes and dont know how and Imma get them two sets of shoes(I can't get shoes with shoelaces for the two year olds only the 3-4 year olds because stuff with string on it can't be used in a two year old classroom in accordance to state guidelines-its apparently a safety hazard). If y'all got any advice on how I can teach the 3-4 year old class shoe tying as well or the foundation at least that would be great. I just want to help both classrooms explore their interest in shoes.

Children don't usually learn to tie shoes so young,

Though teaching some of the younger ones may be doable.

Try a little poem,

Over, under, around and through,
Meet Mr. Bunny Rabbit, pull and through.

There are more.

Oh yeah im not expecting them to be able to tie shoes. I just want to provide a foundation a starting point to learning.

I used a stick and a piece of string... No, not ho hit them or whip them with.

Tie the string around the stick, make a couple of loops and tie them together.

Get'm Crocs.
I hate tying shoes.
Well, not hate.
Dislike.
I'm lazy.
And impatient.
Crocks just slip right on.
Fast.
Effortless.
And comfy.
Now you know.

Shoes are overrated.

Shoelaces are outdated. Get something with Velcro.

Tying knots, otoh, is a useful skill. I'd try to teach it in simple steps. Make a knot. Make another knot above but mirrored. Make one loop in the second knot. Make two loops in the second knot.

I just got a pair of Sketchers Slip-ons. Easy like crocs and more comfortable.

The main reason is that I now have difficulty bending enough to even pull shoes on. I also can't wash my feet in the shower. I step on the drain plug and slosh my feet around in the water as it builds up.

Sad in a way, as I can tie shoes with great skill.

Have you considered a shower chair?

I had a paper shoe outline thing when I learned, with some yarn on the end to practice the tying motion, but I was a couple years older than 2 when I did that in school.
