Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow to everyone celebrating it. May it be a time of gratitude and peace with your loved ones. :yellowheart:
Thanks, but some of us don't have any loved ones left, unless you count the cats. :(
I wonder why most people just assume that everyone has somebody, that's just not true.
No offense intended. :)
But I'll get through it somehow.

I don't think anybody assumes anything when using formulaic greetings or wishes. The moment you start thinking about it, it can become ridiculous pretty fast. Not only becomes "Happy Christmas" "Happy Holidays" but you have to also add a disclaimer for those having to work and those who choose not to celebrate.
And with Thanksgiving specifically, many people forget that that is US specific, like the 4th of July.

They certainly do count, and were it not for them, I would not have any reason to keep going.... that's the truth.
My two definitely count. Never had cats who were so smitten with me. Even though they have each other, they clearly love me.
(And I don't write that only because I have 36 sharp claws near my family jewels, ready to strike. ;-)

Holidays can be so hard. First holiday without loved one. Holidays for lgbtq who are disowned by family. Holidays with cancer, without job, without a feast. Holidays far from home. Broken homes. Parent in jail homes. Big hugs to all of you. May you find peace in nature, may you practice self-care, may you let go what you need to let go, find new goals, new hope, new seasons.

It must be lonely on a day where family is celebrated, but you have no family.

You only have two? I have eight and they are all smitten with me, but not all at the same time. I sleep on the couch now that I am all alone and there isn't room for all of them but often I have three of them there with me and two on the back of the couch. They all stay around the living room at night, none of them go in the bedroom anymore now that I don't sleep there. They even follow me into the bathroom... I can't have any privacy around here unless I close the bathroom door.

Anyone who says that cats don't love people has never had a cat. I have another cat who lives outdoors who was once feral, but now whenever I go out she follows me around and wants attention even after I feed her.

Yeah Duane, but lonely does not quite cover it. Try to imagine yourself without Sara after 40 years of marriage.
Just trying to not mention the person you're without. A failed attempt to soften the blow.
