What if

Starlight

Spiritual but not religious, new age and omnist
What if judaism, christianity and islam is correct about that people who do not believe in God go to hell? What if all people who do not worship the one God go to hell?

If this is reality then God is angry and jealous. But what if.. this is really true?

It is wise to believe in one God just in case?

I don't believe in the Christian God, but I guess if he wanted to be jealous, angry, cruel, etc., he could be. No one would be able to stop him as he supposedly created the entire universe and everything in it. He's also supposedly all-knowing/wise.

If he existed and all of the above was true, then it wouldn't really matter if humans found his requirements unfair, would it...

I don't go by 'what if' scenarios.

"What is" tends to be much more reliable.

In that case, going to hell is far more preferable than the alternative.

Im going to use a pic @John53 posted on another thread because it is relevant here.

And what if there is no heaven or hell, you've wasted your only life over nothing.

I consider a God that sends people to hell to not be worthy of worship.

Then God is neither just nor merciful and we've been lied to.

No, for starters if you truly dont believe something you wouldn't be fearful of the consequences of not believing in it.

For example I'm sure you dont fear getting a lump of coal in your stocking for disbelief in Santa Claus.

For seconds if God were All-Knowing it would know you are only pretending to believe for the benefits and that your belief wasn't sincere - in which case jealousy would still apply.

Thirdly, if we are going to play what if scenarios they are unlimited, for example what if there are a coalition of co-operating Gods who will place you in hell for disbelieving in any of them. In that case you better believe in all the Gods just in case.

In my opinion.

This is a bit silly. One can't just choose to believe something in case it might be true.

Another 'what if?' ? What if folks realised that 'what if?' scenarios have no basis in reality. What if my dog suddenly turned into a cat? What if the scientologists got it right? As Twilight Hue said, 'what is' is more reliable. Ya think?

Bridging the Gap Between Believers and Skeptics
The thing is everybody is different. Some people from Abrahamic religions believe you only have to be a good person to get to eternal paradise. My experience with Catholics are like that. No wonder why they are so universal. Protestants tend to believe it doesn't matter what you've done but what you believe that sends you to Heaven. And then there is different levels of belief besides that. Some Protestants only care that you believe in God, others are more focused on Jesus and converting others towards their view point. The afterlife is a messy ordeal and nobody, not even me, knows where we go.

My idea is that the afterlife is composed of this material world, because later when the STEM fields progress we'll find ways to resurrect those who want to return back to life. It is important then for two things to happen 1 - find ways to advance technology that this becomes a possibly and 2 - make enough of an impact on the world that people will even want you back in the flesh. It is these two reasons for living that I believe my body didn't give up on me after I tried committing suicide in 2013. I shouldn't even be alive right now, but had I died from that attempt most Christians would agree that I would be in Hell right now.

What if you are wrong about what judaism, christianity and islam teach about atheists and hell?

You'll turn into a toad at the strike of midnight if you don't wire me all of your money. Wouldn't it be wise to do so just in case?
