Am I the only Conservative in this forum?

I am conservative on many of the issues such as abortion, gay marriage and fiscal responsibility but am rather liberal when it comes to war. The Bush Administration really doesn't adhere to many conservative principles anyways as spending has increased during his presidency and government has also grew in size. The lies espoused by this administration are sickening as well and people follow blindly like a bunch of cloned sheep. Wake up! I guess that I would say that I am hard to classify.

Well, I'm extremely conservative on some issues (heck, I have been called a Nationalist of sorts more than a few times.) and very liberal on others. It just depends on what issue we're talking.

I'm beginning to feel like the Lone Ranger here. Surely I am not alone.
You're not alone. By typical LDS standards, I'm pretty liberal, but by the standards of this forum, I'm definitely conservative. Sometimes it can be hard feeling like you're the only one with conservative values, but for me the fact that this forum is generally pretty liberal is a plus. Notice how many LDS posters we have here. We are generally run off of any "Christian" forum we try to post on. I try to look at the advantages of being on a more liberal forum whenever I start to feel like the only conservative.

Nah, trust me. You've got company. :)

Keep in mind though that no POV gets special protection here--which is a VERY good thing!--and that may be what you're feeling. Trust me, though, it's good in the long run to have one's beliefs challenged from time to time.

Though sometimes I feel badly that we don't have more conservatives. :( It must be difficult when it seems like you're in the minority on any situation, but especially when it comes to something like politics, which are close to people's hearts.

A lot of the conservatives don't participate in the debates. Some of the more 'liberal' posters can get pretty nasty when conservatives try to state their points of view. There are a lot of subject I won't touch because my point of view isn't respected. I just don't find it worth my time to participate in those threads and there are plenty of places where I can have worthwhile conversations. A lot of liberals have an elitist attitude and I really can't deal with it. They think they're the smartest thing to set foot on earth since Einstein.

Yes. You feel as if you're being cornered at times.

However, in my experience, the only way to ensure this sort of thing happening is to given conservatism special protection. That is NOT a path that RF needs to walk.

Honestly--speaking from the other side of the fence, having been on both sides at one point or another--it isn't arrogance but bluntness. It can be very painful to have one's deeply-held beliefs challenged, but in the end, this can be a good thing to go through.

Especially considering that this is RELIGIOUS forums and not POLITICAL forums...

Nah. I can handle bluntness and having my beliefs challenged. I don't like being treated like a moron for believing them though. That's the difference. Some people have a hard time dealing with people having different opinions than them. I don't. I just want my opinions to be given the same respect that I give.
