It is hypocritical if he continues to go around paying for women to abort his children, while simultaneously advocating against it. It is not hypocritical if at some point thirteen years ago he paid for an abortion, feels it was a horrible mistake and deeply regrets it, and then chooses to advocate against it.

It is also not hypocrisy if it never happened… which is very likely considering the original source of this story (the Daily Beast), and the convenient timing of this story just one month ahead of the midterms.

One can be pro-life and also pro women's right to choose. As an analogy, a parent may not believe in drug usage, but they may still give money to their hurting child, who asks for them for money to buy food or pay rent. They know the child will not use it for food, but will use it to buy drugs. It is type of love, where you compromise your belief and common sense, due to the unconditional love you feel for another.

Whilst I can agree with that and that’s fair, this does seem to happen an awful lot. Ever notice that?
It’s like a cliche at this point. Some politician (whatever party, doesn’t really matter, this happens where I live too) speaks out about morality and sanctity of life. Or whatever. Then all of a sudden is caught in some scandal involving that which they loudly condemned. Sometimes such a revelation is done for political gain, sometimes it’s just because it makes for juicy headlines.

You could make a betting game out of this phenomenon, I swear.

It is also not hypocrisy if it never happened… which is very likely considering the original source of this story (the Daily Beast), and the convenient timing of this story just one month ahead of the midterms.
Well apparently this Mr Walker bloke is going to sue. Or is threatening to
So maybe this is strictly political. As I’m not American I can’t comment one way or the other. Since I feel like I don’t fully understand the cultural/political context of all this. But I can see it being that.
Herschel Walker threatens to sue over abortion accusation and is then attacked by son - POLITICO
(Apologies for the rag seeming source. I needed something not blocked by a Paywall lol.)

Typical republican. The rules are all for the other guys. Never for themselves or their rich cronies.
Because all Dems are saints? Or are there hypocrites on both sides! IMV, you are exemplifying why there is such a great divide.

Here is a tweet by Herschel's son, Christian Walker.

"Every family member of Herschel Walker asked him not to run for office, because we all knew (some of) his past. Every single one. He decided to give us the middle finger and air out all of his dirty laundry in public, while simultaneously lying about it.

I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us. You’re not a “family man” when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence."

You responded to, "Typical republican. The rules are all for the other guys. Never for themselves or their rich cronies." Comments like that are why America is divided in your estimation? Apparently, you think the comment is unfair, and needlessly provocative and divisive. But you didn't try to rebut it. When do Republicans demonstrate any interest in fairness among their own? When are they fair to anyone ever? The recent hurricane provides a nice juxtaposition of the two parties and their philosophies on governance. Under Trump, blue states were treated as the enemy to be discriminated against. Republican senator Rubio was recently called out on requesting federal aid for Ian victims in Florida while voting against relief for New Yorkers following Sandy.

These are loathsome people almost to a person. I don't know how many other liberals agree, but I don't want to be united to such people. I want them to change or go away. They are no part of we for me.

You probably think that this thread contributes further to division, and I would agree. In my opinion, the proper approach to the Republicans is to try to marginalize and disempower them, not to embrace them as fellow anythings. It's the proper approach to the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys as well, quintessential Republican supporters. It's the proper approach to Trump - prosecute, not try to find common ground. There is none.

That's the source of the division. The right is now anti-American. Calling them out on it is the upright thing to do.

Walker is just another typical conservative hypocrite. They're a dime a dozen. The left has no duty to the right at all. Its duty is to the Constitution, the defense of which now depends on fighting these people, not making nice with them.

Paywall for source.
Walker denies the report.
Was the payment voluntary or required by law, if it happened?
Seems like a rush to accuse him of hypocrisy.

There are hypocrites on both sides, but only the republican side is making it their entire platform. Other than endless tax cuts for their wealthy cronies, shoveling tax dollars to their corporate patrons, and destroying what's left of our democracy because they can't win every election every time, being absurd, lying hypocrites is the only agenda they're passionate about.

Walker denies the report.

He confessed accidentally. Someone asked him about the abortion bill referring to Lindsay Graham's effort to criminalize abortion nationally after 15 weeks, and, misunderstanding the question, Walker blurted out that he had paid it. Trump was furious at him for paying a bill and called him a RINO.[/humor]

Seems like a rush to accuse him of hypocrisy.

Well, it's down to either Walker is a liar and a hypocrite or else he had a sudden epiphany of principle and forgot to mention it. Another poster commented, "It is not hypocritical if at some point thirteen years ago he paid for an abortion, feels it was a horrible mistake and deeply regrets it, and then chooses to advocate against it." Yeah, that's the ticket. It could have been deep remorse in this highly complex and spiritually ever-growing person. I'm conflicted over this one.

Likewise with Trump. I can't shake this nagging feeling that he's guilty of something, but I don't want to make a rush to judgment, so I'm conflicted over that one as well. We have to allow for the possibility that such people are unfairly maligned and actually misunderstood good and decent people.[/humor]

It's hypocritical either way, if you ask me.

CNN —
Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee in Georgia’s Senate race, on Monday said a report that he paid for an abortion more than a decade ago was a “flat-out lie” and a “repugnant hatchet job.”
