Slayer. My favorite album of theirs is Seasons in The Abyss.
It was difficult for me, but I decided to go with Metallica, because its one I've been enjoying all my life.
My 8 year old's got me more into Megadeth over the last few years.

Definitely agree, that is also my favorite of theirs. Skeletons of Society or War Ensemble... I can't decide which is my favorite song off that album. What is yours?
I absolute love Metallica, they're what got me into metal. Everything they made was great, except for the St Anger album which I wasn't a fan of. Megadeth is pretty good also. Skin O My Teeth is just the most wicked song I've ever heard

Sure, Slayer is amazing and all. But I'm surprised there's not more votes for Anthrax. Their riffs are insane, in their openings alone:
I like most of Metallica's stuff, but have a few unpopular opinions with them(one being I didn't mind St. Anger). Another was Unforgiven 2 was better than the original, but now I think 3 blows them both out of the water.

Kinda a win for Metallica by default in my case. Listened to a lot of them since forever, and just smatterings of the others. Also the only one I've seen live.
Well, someone's gotta be controversial...
I have seen 3/4 of the Big 4. Missed Metallica so far. I think I am going to be stuck between Metallica and Megadeth. I'll go with Megadeth now until that changes.
I want to see Metallica. When I had money to burn, I should have coughed up the $2000 for the VIP package when they were last in St Louis, but I weaseled out. Really, I think there was some obligation I couldn't get out of and...I weaseled out.
