Homosexuality and religious.

Yesterday (for me) i was answering about a question relating to baha'i scripture and homosexuality. And i replied something like "I can not tell other what they can and can not do in their belief/faith."

The person who made the question then directly assumed i had to be a homophobic, hateful person against every LGBTQ person.

I just wonder, how is it possible to conclude that a person is homophobic or hateful from a reply like the one i gave?

Just to clerify my true stand on it, i am neutral to what other people do in their relationship sexually, i is not any of my business to critique them.

In many Western Countries such as ours there has been a profound shift in attitudes and views towards homosexuality. Homosexuality is now seen as being as normal as heterosexuality. Homosexual acts are seen as having similar legitimacy to heterosexual acts.

Of course the Baha'i Faith believes in God who has revealed laws through successive Prophets. Those laws include marriage laws between a man and a woman and laws that forbid certain sexual acts outside of marriage.

As Baha'is, we can not tell others what to do or judge them.

Fully agree with you on this.
I am preparing for the question "but it says in baha'i scripture....." so this can be a fun one to see where it leads the debate.

This is not your problem but that of the other person.

It is same to me if other people are gay or not. How can I judge them for what they are feeling is right for them.
Say "I can't judge them, because it is okay to be gay"

Can you feel the difference between your reply and my above reply?

You know that gays have been belittled for ages, so it's better to phrase it in a 100% clear way if you want to help them with your reply, right? Your reply was not very clear

Nitpicking. You already know i am neutral to this issue. It is not up to me to tell others what is right for them.

I am curious. Do you believe the question
" Is consensual homosexuality an ethical/moral practice?" is a question that does not have an answer? Or, that it does have an answer but you do not know the answer and hence you are agnostic on the issue?

As I said as reply, I am neutral, but I know and understand what all religious scriptures say.

You may not consider yourself to be homophobic, but if you refuse to condemn or even criticise the homophobia in your religious teaching or the actions of other believers, and claim that said teaching is perfect - then it is just as bad.
It really isn't that difficult to understand.

Yes, in religions it is one of the difficult issues one face. I think many fear to talk about it, i know i did before
But you are not talking about it. You are avoiding talking about it.

There is no "neutral position" on things like homophobia, sexual discrimination and barbaric punishments.
An attempt to claim a "neutral position" is usually a sign that the person realises they are between an ideological rock and a hard place.
Condemn it and they are essentially condemning god's perfect word.
Support it and they look like a monster to civilised society.

It means I do not judge others for their sexual preference.
If I was born as a gay man, I would live by the teaching. But I am not gay or bisexual.
Suppose person X rapes person Y. Will you then judge person X? If yes, why would you judge in the case of rape and not in the case of consensual homosexual relations? If no, does that mean you have a neutral opinion about rape?

Please clarify.
