How do you define the LHP?

I was under the impression that the left hand path focused on personal freedom, discovery, and empowerment. That it's also about free-thought, rational self-interest, tearing down arbitrary restrictions in the form of sacred cows and taboos and indulging in one's pleasures and desires while at the same time practicing personal responsibility and moderation. Basically very libertine and libertarian ideals. Yet lately I've heard multiple people claim that this was infact unsatanic. They seemed to suggest that "real" satanism is right wing ideology in a halloween costume. This seems odd to me, especially when it means that the LHP is politically aligned with evangelicals and dominionists. How does that make sense?

Here is how Joseph Campbell defines it. I tend to agree with him.

Much of the impression you will get appears to be just that. A lot of right leaning knee jerking all around. Western "LHP" is in shambles.

My self, I don't always have time or patience for conventions in politics and society. I do believe in liberation from the bonds of customs, traditions, expectations, etc.

I will say what it means for me, and offer a glimpse into my own LhP experience. It makes no difference whether or not anyone agrees.

___

LhP

LhP is a type of Weltanschauung which prioritizes absolute devotion to one’s own Will above everyone else’s.

You forge your own path in life as much as possible. You choose as you Will and you refuse to ever regret those choices.

Your Weltanschauung is an honest and genuine reflection of who you know you are at your core and who you Will to be, and whatever purpose your heart screams out for the most. You do not lie to yourself and say you are something you are not. You accept your human Nature no matter how beautiful or terrible it gets... and you unleash whatever sides you Will, whenever you Will. You may adapt to your environment and adopt a culture’s customs to meet your objectives, and give whatever impression you choose, but deep down you do not share their sense of morality. You can not, it is not who you are. There is only what you Will to do and what you Will not to do, and why- and not because you view it as “right” or “wrong”, or “good” or “evil” as they do, because you do not- but because it is your choice, and you either Will it or you do not.

You can stand within a large crowd, and be the only one there. What matters most is something only you can see, vividly. Yet, your belief in yourself is unwavering. You prioritize your own Will above all others and you create your own destiny, sacrificing whatever you must, with no regret.

The epic journey itself is just as much worth it all as the destinations.

There are moments of excitement and beauty and pleasure, and there are moments of hate and cruelty and suffering, and there are so many faces within the whirlwind of dreams and memories swirling around you... but no matter who you let into your life, the path you walk is one you walk alone. You may have gods with you, who you experience in your own way, embodying and voicing your deepest and truest inclinations- or you may not- but regardless, no other human will ever truly understand this road you walk, or why.

Every human falls... but you do not stay down, your nature forbids it. Something inside always lifts you up, and something inside always burns strong. You keep moving forward into your dreams, no matter how beautiful or terrible they might be. You find strength, power, wisdom and beauty wherever you Will. You do not stop. Not ever. You rise and you fall, and then you rise again, and you push back harder against whatever stands in your way. And you do not regret a thing, ever, because every decision you’ve ever made led you into this moment, here and now, and there is nowhere else you’d rather be.

You alone bear the torch in this endless night... but the vast expanse of opportunity is exhilarating. This all began as an ember, and will end with an inferno.

This is how the LhP has taken form through me. I have voiced my thoughts in such a way as if I were speaking to a reflection, or to anyone out there who might resonate with what was said.

I look forward to reading about others’ experiences and perspectives regarding the term “Left Hand Path”.

is left hand (according to a modern and Western acceptance) any philosophy and/or magical practice which aims at the deification of the human being.
the mage of the left hand path seeks to reach a divine state where he is both his own universe and the god of his universe.
note that individuation is not necessarily solipsism, the "divinized beings" can meet and even unite lovingly (but without the notion of confusional fusion) I remain me and the other him.

Apathy towards cultural norms & values, a high respect for subjective experience, an avoidance of dogma, a focus on the individual Self, a use of Pragmatism, an investment in modern objective knowledge, Skepticism, and Self-deification - whether that means becoming metaphorically godlike in this life, or literally continuing as a godlike being after death

More directly to you point of these far right people is that fascism et al. are completely incompatible with the Left Hand Path. Their core values, goals, and methods contradict basically everything the LHP stands for and has stood for since Egypt. That said, there is also what I would consider a "far left" move in these circles these days, "social justice warriors" they are called, which also does not necessarily fit with the LHP in my opinion, often becoming a form of overcorrection.

There are those who naturally resonate with fascism, who might embrace and exploit these political ideologies to exact their Will, achieve their ambitions, and position themselves at all times in a position of power to maximize their own end goals… regardless of who gets in the way.

A fascist Weltanschaaung can certainly be LHP.

Yeah you're more describing the church than any authentically LHP movement.

The church waged war and slaughtered their opposition, indoctrinated the masses and expanded their territory throughout the world. Yes, I find their achievements very impressive.

What I meant earlier though was less about groups and more about the individual. Political ideologies can be utilized and exploited to effectively achieve one’s goals. It doesn’t have to define who you are. If it makes an excellent weapon in your hands, then I would encourage you to use it.

Wouldn't that imply people like Hitler are LHP archetypes? Or give validity to paths like the sinister tradition?

Absolutely.

Yeah that's not the Left Hand Path in any way shape or form, not in the West at least. The entire ideology of a man like Hitler flies in the face of each and every defining characteristic of the LHP, including the value of individualism, free will, personal identity, and more. This is precisely what the deities of the RHP love though, as best exemplified by the rejection of Cain's sacrifice for not being bloody enough.

The strength of Will, the hunger for power, the choice to fight, the charisma to twist the minds of an entire nation, the passion, the unwavering determination, the willingness to sacrifice anyone or anything to see his Will realized, the imposing of his own personal Weltanschauung into the hearts of his entire country, the desire and more importantly the power to reshape the world in his image, the ascent into a position above everyone else around him to make his greatest dreams and ambitions a reality… none of this “in any way shape or form” has anything to do with how you understand the Left Hand Path?

It’s been an interesting conversation. This forum can use more LHP voices regardless of how much we actually agree on with each other. Feel free to reach out whenever.

The left hand path is the path of heretics. It is the path least traveled, least understood, yet which is claimed by many in some misguided effort to appear relevant. I walk the left hand path. When the world said racism was wrong, I questioned why. I explored the idea, communicated with self proclaimed racists, and came to my own conclusion on the matter. When the world said we should celebrate genital mutilation, despite cancellation looming and my own views at the time, I questioned that. When the media and the schools went left, I explored the right. I picked to shreds every moral pedestal, slaughtered every sacred cow, and turned what disgusted into what aroused. I was a neo nazi, a communist, a totalitarian, a fascist, a hyper progressive, and so many other things. I was submissive, dominant, slave and master; even object. At the end of it all, I stand here, an individual. My views are entirely my own, motivated by my own nature, rather than because society says so.

Magically, I do what I will. I do not care about appropriation, nor do I believe in karma, nor the law of three. I'm a free agent of chaos. In terms of beliefs, I have an assortment. However, I was once Christian, once Atheist, once Satanist. I was once trans, once confused about my sexuality. I challenged everything, even my own trauma. I suppressed, repressed, and lived to excess. I became impulsive, obsessive, and delusional at the heights of theistic belief. When I was finished with that, I learned to exist, independent of extremes for their own sake. Where am I now? In a place where no matter how much the ground shakes and tilts, I remain upright. I'm a practitioner of the left hand path, a master of myself, and a magician seeking after apotheosis.
