If you really want to know source beliefs from an active Elder of the Church who served a two-year mission in Russia and lives in Utah. I'm all ears. I can answer as much as I have knowledge of about the History of the Church, its doctrine, and the political, cultural, and social environment within highly concentrated LDS populations. (Utah, Idaho, North America, South America)

If you know everything about the Church already, I'm impressed and would like to hear something you think I haven't heard before about my Church so I can confirm if I had heard it before or not.

Oh and if you just have questions about me and why I personally am a member, I will try to answer that as well to the best of my knowledge.

The Morman temples are reserved for more learned members. They are beautiful structures. I've been inside a morman meeting place, but never a temple. Why do mormans keep these so guarded? By the way, I have several morman friends. From elders to longer standing temple associates. Just curious how you might answer.

Mormon temple ceremonies are copied from masons. I've been through the temple - "new name noah" recorded it, you can see what happens on YouTube. 20 years ago members covenanted a few different things than now - pantomime slitting their throat before going against leaders.

I believe that about as far as I can throw an elephant. I know too many mormans to fall for that nonsense. Some of the elders can play a mean game of racketball. I had an old couple walk up to me one day, said they were morman elders. I'm like dayum .... yall getting a late start ain't ya?

They say brothers are made for adversity. Iron sharpening iron comes to mind. I'll sharpen the saw from time to time. It's a reminder that resistance isn't always malicious, but initiated to sharpen the saw, even through the more malicious among us.

How many ex-mormons do you know?
I spent a goid chunk of my life in that group - left because of child abuse, and how it was handled. There is a similar case as mine in the papers now:

You're speaking about the Jessup(?) guy, now in prison for the above listed crimes. I've read about it. I'm not too familiar with him, nor had I heard about him prior to the allegations. Polygamay is one thing, forced underage unions another. I don't know that I know any ex mormans. I know a few standing mormans.

There are good people in every religion - good Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists... and there are evil people too. Brainwashing/tribalism/group-think are such strange things, I guess we're all herd animals, need to belong, avoid being alone. As an ex-mormon, it's painful as hell to lose your tribe. It's similar to divorce, you do everything you can to make it work. My kids were abused by a bishopric member. Not just one bad apple - they don't follow mandated reporting laws, they knew he was a pedophile and kept him in leadership positions. Not everyone, but many are delusional, believing they have revelations from God, believing they are actual apostles and prophets etc. It's a mental illness found in many different groups. That spiritual witness video above - brainwashing is a real thing in many groups.

Jacob Samuelson good to meet you....

I reply: Christians believe in "One (1) God!" ONLY ONE! The Mormon believes in many gods... Each good Mormon can be a god as Jesus is on earth! Thus the "Many gods'!

Scriptures tell us God is the only one!
Isaiah 45:6
so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.

1 Chronicles 17:20
“There is no one like you, Lord, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.

Jacob Samuelson Christians use the Cross it's their symbol, it's a symbol of love! It was by the Cross that we were redeemed, Jesus destroyed death and restored life from the cross! You see a person make the sign you know instantly that person is Christian! You see a cross on a building you know it is a Christian Church! The Mormon rejects the Cross thus they are anti Christian!
The Anti-Christ is Anti-Christian; Christians are "Christ Followers"! Christians reject "Many Gods"! Satan hates the Cross, he would never ever allow a cross on any of his Churches, he would not allow his children to use the cross!
The Jehovah Witness is the same they also believe in many gods they also reject the cross! You never hear of "Anti-Mohamed" "Anti-Krishna" or "Anti-Buda" only Anti-Christ because the Christian has the truth Satan hates the truth! Christians believe "Jesus is God/Man" Christians believe Jesus is ALWAYS with us!

Jacob Samuelson The Mormon believes Jesus abandoned his church; that J Smith had to come to god' rescue; rebuild the Church Jesus could not establish!
The Great Commission
20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

God is ALWAYS WITH Christians.. He started with his followers so he is still WITH his Followers!

Jesus built his Church on
ROCK... J Smith thought Jesus is a Fool! J Smith had to reject the words of God to make his teaching "There is NO Christians left on earth"! The Mormon today is FORCED to reject the words of Jesus to trust their salvation in Joseph Smith!
Matthew 7:26
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

Jacob Samuelson question... Is Jesus a fool !? Built on ROCK the Church Jesus established will never fail!

idea don't feel bad about leaving the LDS' they are NOT Christian! Christians are "Christ Followers"! Joseph Smith preached (paraphrase) "There is no Christian Churches left on earth that he was commissioned by God to reestablish what Jesus lost"! For Smith to teach this he had to reject the scriptures! The scripturas tell us... "Rejecting the scripturas is rejecting God"!

To say Jesus' church failed is to call Jesus a fool...Matthew 7:26
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

Once looking critically at one faith, it is difficult not to be critical of any faith.

James W. Fowler - Wikipedia

See above stages of faith - midlife awakening to universal ... agnostic. Not affiliated for me from here on out. As much as community is wonderful, I could never trust any group again, will always keep part of myself separate, guarded. We're all imperfect.

idea I would think a "Critical look" would include Critically looking at other faiths! Can't compare without having something to compare to!

My family is religiously diverse, I wasn't raised Mormon (husband's faith), have Catholics, Methodists, evangelicals, atheists... from all of them, my unaffiliated grandparents were the kindest and most loved - I guess I understand "unaffiliated" now, no dogma, no tribes, no agendas - moderate, simple, kind, not taking any sides.

Not faith in a church, just... find peace under the great blue sky.

I have heard many people; "I don't go to any church: My Church is mother nature!" Yes I agree; there are a lot of good people that reject god.

Jesus established a Church on rock before he left us! Christians are Christ followers! I would think to look "Critically" you would consider Christianity!

Isn't LDS a Pauline-Christianity denomination, which has nothing to do with (Jesus) Yeshua- the Israelite Messiah, please? Right?

Answer: No Jesus is not a fool for appearing to Joseph Smith and Restoring His Church that He promised would never fail.
If Jesus built on "Rock" then Jesus' Church will not fail!
J Smith said "Jesus' Church failed"! J Smith taught "Jesus the Fool!"!!!
J Smith taught.. "There was NO Christian Church left on earth"! Logic alone says...If the Church needed to be "Restored" then it failed!

Jacob Samuelson A fool builds his building on SAND it will fail because a fool does NOT build on Rock! A fools building will fail!
Jesus built on "ROCK" the Church Jesus built does NOT need to be restored!
Also..
Jesus promised; he will Always be with his church to the very end of time! J Smith taught: Jesus failed; that Jesus was somehow overpowered by Satan and Satan took the Body of Jesus from Jesus!
Jacob Samuelson J Smith rejected the Promise Jesus made to his Church! To be Mormon you have to reject the scriptures!

Matthew 28:20 Teach them to do everything I have commanded you. “And remember that I am always with you until the end of time.”

paarsurrey I hope all is well.... Read all of this post....Christians believe "Jesus is God"; Christians believe in ONE God; Christians believe in the Trinity!

Fact...Ambassadors speak for the Country.. They represent the Country! WHEN...

paarsurrey
when you speak for someone it is said you represent them.. The Ambassador represent us.. Our Country; "The People", they speak in our name as if we were there doing the talking!!
Jesus gave all of "God' authority" to God' Ambassadors when the God' ambassador speaks he is representing God as if God himself was doing the talking! Moses spook for God with all of God' authority he "Represented God!"
LOOK...18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

paarsurrey Disciples are God' children! Make Disciples in the name of God the, Father with the Authority of the Father!
Make Disciples in the name of God the Son, with all the Authority of the Son!
Make Disciples in the name of God the Holy Spirit, with the Authority of God the Holy Spirit! SPEAKING....

paarsurrey
Speaking for God make his children by baptizing! The Authority to represent God was given to Jesus' Holy Church!
John 4:24, Jesus says “God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

John 14:26 However, the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you.
paarsurrey Jesus says he will both teach and remind us; “Cannot “teach” and “remind” if you do not have the intellectual powers unique to rational persons that enable you to do so! The Holy Spirit is here clearly revealed to be a person..... "HE"!

John 14:16-17, Jesus says, God the Father is sending the Counselor...
And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth, who the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you

John 15:26, Jesus says, God the Son is sending the Counselor...
But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning

paarsurrey God is Truth!
John 16:7-13, Jesus makes it very plain,
Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convince the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment; of sin, because they do not believe in me; of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

paarsurrey Clearly The Holy Spirit is NOT the Father or the Son.. But he has the AUTHORITY of God!
1 Corinthians 2:11
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit knows everything he is omniscient....This is something that God alone possesses or even has the capability to possess.

Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.

paarsurrey "US"
is plural>>>> More then One! Christians believe in the Trinity! Always have!
