Underappreciated Appliances

Many people stop to brag about or show off their vehicles, cell phones, or game system. But how many people stop to talk about their fridge or washing machine?

While game systems and new cars are fun, its these underappreciated appliances that make the difference for most of us day to day. Here's the place to boast about your electric mixer(or other household appliance) without getting raised eyebrows!

Personally, I couldn't do without my gas stove. I had to make do with electric for about a year, and it was awful!

Gas is much better imo too. I need the flame when cooking.

Also. I couldn't live without my rice cooker. That thing is a life saver.

The flame makes such a big difference in taste, as well as not being able to use certain techniques without it...

I haven't ever used a rice cooker, though. What are the advantages over the pot/lid?

Not having to keep an eye on it.

It's very "set and forget".

While reading your post and thinking about other under-appreciated things, I happen to notice that the next post after your was by @The Hammer. Think of how under-appreciated that very important tool is. Not to mention the culture impact, pun intended, it has had. How many people describe a night out by claiming they got hammered?

I say raise your hammer, open that fridge for a cold drink cause there's laundry to do.

Nobody has ever been champing at the bit to show me their new crockpot either.

I can certainly be an underappreciated tool ;)

No one's ever been dying to show me theirs, but get perplexed when I don't want one for myself...

They must not be all that great, if everyone's always trying to unload them on me...

I hadn't thought about that in those terms. Personally, I like using one. I just hate cleaning them. If they invent a self-cleaning crockpot, I'll be sure and send you pictures.
