A tribal woman to be the next Indian President

Draupadi Murmu, 64, a former teacher and a tribal woman from Odisha is gong to be the next president of India. Of course, an election will be held (July) in which all members of the two houses of the Indian Parliament and members of the State assemblies will cast the votes. But BJP, the ruling party, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have the numbers and there will be no problem in her being elected. The current Indian President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, belongs to the Scheduled Castes. Both the so-called 'lower castes' and tribals are wrongly designated as 'dalits' (oppressed) by Christian and Muslim missionaries, and political parties in opposition (including the former Nehru-Gandhi dynastic party, Indian National Congress, which ruled India for 55 years).

A person familiar with pain and heartache makes for a good leader. Best wishes for a prosperous term.

Both the so-called 'lower castes' and tribals are wrongly designated as 'dalits' (oppressed) by Christian and Muslim missionaries, ...

Where there ever or now castes in India that could be described as lower castes? Where there ever or now castes in India that could be described as oppressed?

And the BJP reign continues ... :(
It does, passing through its various tests. The latest was the introduction of Israel type four-year short commission in the Armed Forces (note: not conscription, only by choice) which was resisted by the opposition by burning government and private vehicles, railway coaches and property, inconveniencing the travelers; but which was essential for the country.
Where there ever or now castes in India that could be described as lower castes? Where there ever or now castes in India that could be described as oppressed?
Caste description exists in India, because by Indian Constitution, former depressed classes are eligible for wide-ranging affirmative action since independence. Legally, caste system does not exist and there are harsh penalties for caste discrimination. All people have absolutely equal rights, except women among Muslims, who are till now governed by their personal laws. The government of India is going to propose a 'uniform civil law'. That has the sanction of Constitution and the Indian Supreme Court. Caste differentiation lingers in society, we are not totally out of it.

The Gyanvapi case is in the court at the local level. Then it could go to the State High Court. Then it will go to the Supreme Court. Of course, Hindus want the land, where one of the most important temples of Hinduism was torn down to build a mosque, to be returned to them. As in case of the Ayodhya mosque, they will be given a larger piece of land at a place of their choosing, and if the Muslims agree, Hindus will provide funds for building of a new mosque (though Muslims may refuse any financial help). BJP is not at all involved in the case. Courts will decide the issue. The local court will hear the arguments on July 4. The case will take time to be decided. Courts will have to go by the existing laws. It will not be decided by a fiat.

A portion of the temple still exists, which is a clear proof of existence and tearing down of the temple.

The India-Israel comparison - perhaps best reflected in the struggles around the Gyanvapi mosque - is unsettling. For those with access, the Washington Post's How bulldozers in India became a symbol of Hindu nationalism is worth reading.
Yeah, sure. the houses of corrupt politicians and administrators, mafia dons, who cannot give satisfactory answer to the source of their income or property, or constructions by those who have illegally encroached upon government land are being torn down. What is wrong with that? That is exactly how US tax department castled Al Capone.

A few points about these mosques which even the Indians may not know:

1. Tha Ayodhya mosque stood on land gifted by Nawab of Awadh (Lucknow), to a Hindu seminary, with the stipulation that the Muslims will be allowed to offer prayers there if they so desire. The Ayodhya mosque was not in use and in a dilapidated condition. The Seminary never renegaded on its commitment, only that Muslims never came to offer prayers there. There are 8 other mosques in Ayodhya.

2. The land where the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi stands does not belong to Muslims. It is not a Waqf (Auqaf, gifted) land. There are Hindu claimants for it.

"The affidavit said that in substance the Government of India (during British era) in the written statement filed in Civil Suit stated that -- The entire plot of land on which the Mosque, tiled courtyard, stray grave, staircase in front of the gate, together with tiled enclosures all around and a pipal tree (Ficus religiosa) stand belongs to Government and has never been dedicated nor could have been dedicated to the Mosque."
Plantiffs refer to 1936' British govt stand in Gyanvapi mosque suit

"This gave way to a law-suit urging that the entire complex be treated as an integral part of the mosque — a waqf property — by customary rights, if not by legal rights; the contention was rejected by the lower Court in August 1937 and an appeal was dismissed by the Allahabad High Court with costs, in 1941."
Gyanvapi Mosque - Wikipedia

These are the legalities that will come up if and when the case comes to Indian Supreme Court. Supreme Court has refused to take up the case at the present juncture. It says the Muslims (institutions and persons) can file their appeals after the lower courts (District Court which is hearing the case now, and the State High Court to which the case may go later) give their ruling on it.

This is about Gujarat riots of 2002.

Top court says, "(Charge) of larger criminal conspiracy at highest level stands collapsed like a house of cards"

‘No larger conspiracy behind Gujarat riots’: SC rejects Zakia Jafri plea against clean chit to Modi

Modi's family nurtured a Muslim boy, Abbas, son of one of the friends of his father who had died. Modi's father also died in the mean time. But Modi's mother cared for the boy till he completed his studies. People unnecessarily blame Modi.

People accept Mr Modi is a fair man and rises above the hysteria.People do not blame Modi (or anyone on this forum). However BJP as a party is seen as being timid at times in condemning attacks on Muslims.Bulldozers pulling down the houses of anyone of any religion is bad.The world watched the pain in the girls voice as she described losing her childhood home in minutes,Who's next? The trouble is of course it loses political votes taking the moral/religious line.

Please remember that Muslims take law in hand at the instigation of clerics, Pakistani Intelligence Agency, ISI, and opposition parties. They burn Government and private property property. In the 2020 Delhi riots 53 people were killed (both, Hindus and Muslims). India is a large country, if tough measures are not taken, things can go out of hand very quickly. That is why bulldozers are necessary. Also that bulldozers remove only unauthorized constructions.

Please note that the Wikipedia description of the riots is highly biased towards Muslims. There are no official statistics on how many Hindus were killed or how many Muslims were killed, because such statistics are not permitted by law in India. So, it is anybody's guess. 2020 Delhi riots - Wikipedia

"AAP leader Tahir Hussain was denied bail. The court said there's enough material on record to presume the former councillor was present at the spot of crime and was instigating the rioters.

In September 2021, a Delhi High Court Justice, Subramonium Prasad, noted that the riots were a "preplanned and pre-meditated conspiracy to disturb law and order in the city" and that the rioters' conduct "was a calculated attempt to dislocate the functioning of the government as well as to disrupt the normal life of the people in the city."
Delhi High Court Justice, Subramonium Prasad on Delhi riots - Google Search

Tahir Hussain is still in jail. His own party has dismissed him from membership. What more proof is necessary? If he was not at fault, why did AAP (Aam Admi Party) dismiss him? As for what appears in the social media is mostly the version of ISI, pseudo-intllectuals and opposition parties who have been rendered powerless by BJP, and even Chinese iT bots. Do you think that they are active only in USA and not in India? Thousands of fake accounts are active.

"The world watched the pain in the girls voice as she described losing her childhood home in minutes. Who's next?": Yes, that will happen if her family members are involved in fomenting trouble. The trouble-makers need to be careful.

Well, India is satisfied with BJP and Modi. The proof is the recent wins in Uttar Pradesh Elections. Two parliament seats and three States Assembly seats, all won by BJP. Even the G7 are satisfied with India. What some others think is hardly relevant.

Modi has the highest acceptance rating for any leader in the world and the lowest disapproval rating. Does that mean anything?

BJP was in power in Maharashtra (Mumbai) but a former partner deceived it. Two and a half year down, that party (Shiv Sena) has been wrecked by its own members who want to partner with BJP (some 40 out of 55). Maharashtra is a populous (113 million) and prosperous state. Maharashtra is returning to BJP rule in a week's time. BJP already has 106 seats out of 288 there.

@Ronki123, @Lyndon, @JIMMY12345. Two things have happened in the last three days:

1. A beheading. Two Muslims beheaded (Al-Qaida style, severed neck and arm) - a tailor for supporting Nupur Sharma in Udaipur. Of course, they were arrested the same day from a place some 157 kms away (are now in police custody and will receive a 'death by hanging' punishment). They made a video of the beheading. They were in contact with Dawat-e-Islami and Tehrik-e-Labbaik, in Karachi, Pakistan, and had received terror-training there. Some 8 other people including a cleric connected with them, have also been arrested. They wanted to create sleeper-cells in Rajasthan. The story is unfolding.

2. The coalition of Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena broke up in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Uddhav Thakrey resigned. BJP has 106 members in the house. Nearly the whole of Shiva Sena revolted. The rebels make up 51 members. But, surprisingly, BJP nominated their Chief, Eknath Shinde, as the Chief Minister. That is a very smart political move. BJP has killed three birds with one arrow: NCP, Dynasty Congress and dynastic Chief of Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thakrey.

The BJP-Shiv Sena combine got 164 votes for their candidate as Assembly Speaker, while the opposition got 107 votes.
The Government has to prove its majority in the Assembly tomorrow. The interesting thing would be to see how many vote against the Government from the defeated camp of Shiv Sena. That will decide the future leadership of Shiv Sena.

There has been another beheading in Amravati, Maharashtra, which the former government tried to pass off as an attempt for robbery. Eight accused have been arrested and investigations are going on.
There has been another beheading in Ayodhya, though it is not yet clear if it was a terrorist act.

The irony. These misguided people act on the instructions of terror organizations in Pakistan. After the deed is done, they face the music while their Pakistani instigators are lauded in Pakistan. Two people from Udaipur and three from Amaravati who participated in the actual killing are going to get death sentence.

Maharashtra chapter over. BJP-Shiv Sena get 164 votes again in the floor-test. Opposition reduced to 99 from 107 yesterday. Many in opposition did not care to vote.
