Well? No? You are not excited to die? Me neither. DEATH ANXIETY to the max my dude.
But isn’t death so exciting, particularly for us here on religious forums? We are all here because of some interest in god or the spirit world or religion and the such. Death is the climax in all of our lives, is it not? Religion and belief in god is particularly interested in death. Specifically, what happens to our consciousness when we die.
Well, 100 billion humans have already found out what happens after death. I take comfort in that fact. Me, being alive with a few billion other people, I am very much in the minority.
If the atheists are right, well it’ll sure be boring. Just like sleep. Just like before we were born. If this life is truly it, I gotta stop smoking tobacco! I should do that regardless.
Some suppose God Himself will meet us face to face! How exciting! Even if we happened to be damned, at least you know for certain God is real. Isn’t that something that some of us strive for? I know I want to know if God is real for sure.
What if we are like spirits after we die? That’d be cool, I think. Be a ghost and stuff. Interact with the world mayhaps.
If reincarnation is real, what a journey it will be! Spooky if we happen to descend during our journey, but ya know we’d be conscious(?) during our journey.
If the atheist are right, and we all just turn off when we die, well we won’t be conscious of the answer that there is no god or soul, but that will still be an answer. The most peaceful sleep that will last for eternity. TERRIFYING (for me at least) but I won’t be conscious to be terrified. I’ll be peacefully dead.

No, I'll not be excited to die, given I believe death will just be the end of life, and the most annoying thing for me (given this belief) is that I won't know what happens to the human race, but then neither will all if correct. But I would still like to know how the human species will get on or end itself. Just being somewhat voyeuristic really though.

I am not an excitable person.

However, I do support death positivity. I think it's important for us all to come to terms with our own mortality.

I don't want to live forever, accumulating more and more trauma and grief until my mind is a shambling mess. Death feels like a mercy to me.

I also see death as returning to the nothingness I came from before I was born. There's something comforting about turning off your thoughts in a silent, still darkness. I do that now to relax as I ease my way to sleep, already. I like sleep. I think it's fitting that I would get to finally rest after a long (or short, never know) lifetime of work. I do look forward to it, in a sense, to finally be at peace.

But I have other things I would rather do for awhile first, so I'm content to wait to die for now.

Nice heading to the topic. Excited? Why should I be? It will happen when it will. Till then, let me enjoy life, family, food, discussions at RF, etc.
I have no interest in Gods and Goddesses (they are mythological stories). I do not believe in soul or spirit. Death for me is just another change in what constitutes me, atoms (Brahman). They are eternal. They existed before my birth, they will exist after my death.
I will have no rebirth, except that these atoms will disperse and become part of millions of living and non-living things. I am not going to meet my ancestors or any departed member of family, friends or enemies.
I already have answers to all questions, so, no questions to any God even if I suppose I will meet one. I understand life.

No, I am not exited to die. And I don't think death is the exiting thing in religions, it is the after life.

In Biblical point of view, righteous people don't die, they change.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

No, nothing like sleep. No dreaming. No subconscious thinking going on. None of this.

Just like before we were born.

Yes - just like this. There is a specific and obvious reason why you can't remember anything before you were born. If "the atheists are right" (this isn't entirely accurate, but I know where you're aiming with it), then there is no assessing, no thinking, no remembering, no figuring out, no eureka moments, etc. It's not that "nothing matters" - you don't even get to assess or contemplate or lament "matters" at all. "You" is no longer a thing.

Still here you are thinking you will "receive answers". An "answer" is no longer pertinent for you. You aren't the receiver of anything. You're gone. Entirely gone.

I think this is why the idea of an afterlife is so second nature for people to adopt and assume. They simply can't imagine the universe without their "self" in it. Even when talking about their obliterated state they can't help but use words like "I will" or "it will be". Those ideas aren't relevant to a state of total annihilation of the self. There is no "I". There is no "be".

I'm afraid of losing the progress I've made in this life, of all of my accomplishments being for nothing. I believe the desolation of The Sum of Awe comes after his death, and if there even is much of a legacy of him then that too is only temporary.

That's what scares me most about death. But I suppose that's why you try to make yourself feel fulfilled during life. Instead of relying on your goals to make you happy you've got to be happy chasing your goals.

I am looking forward to the expansion of consciousness I believe occurs at death. It's like removing the clunky outercoat (physical body). I am in no rush to speed up my death, but I would be against artificially prolonging when the body fails.

I have all my worldly affairs in order, so I am comfortable dying even if it's before I click 'Post Reply' and none of you see this, LOL.
