Divorce?

No not you..........
Why exactly do your friends divorce?
Should people in 2020's have a trial 2 year partnership before marrying? (If this is immoral so is divorce now 50%)
Are statistics correct. Are women the main instigators?
Is it better to remain single? - on grounds you have time to read books and have lots of different conversations with lots of people?.There is no one to argue with either.

Divorce isn't really that big of a deal to me. Part of the process and beat of things.

Who knows. The courts might even be on my side when it comes time to settle finances, should I ever marry and things not work out.

You only have a high probability that you will continue being friends with someone after you have known them for 7 years:
Being Friends With Someone For Over 7 Years Means It Will Last a Lifetime

I think our culture has made a habit of getting married too soon. If you're still together and haven't gotten married after 2 years, people ask you what's wrong with the relationship and might even tell you to abandon it because you aren't married yet.

Funny, though, people who are together for 3 years before getting married have almost a 50% improved chance of staying together than people who are together for shorter periods of time:
Researchers found the 'right' amount of time to date before getting married — and it's not as long as you'd think

If we can get used to dating for 5 years and being engaged for 18 months, it would bring us closer to that 7 year mark before committing to an entire lifetime with someone. Both of these lengths of time are already fairly normal among marriages, they just aren't dominant. If we could expand that engagement just 6 months more, then I think marriages would be more successful across the board.

That said, for practical reasons, a civil union might still need to take place before one commits to a genuine traditional marriage ceremony and a change of name, just because of the way the laws are set up. Outside of that, though, I feel like waiting just makes sense. If you plan to be with them for the rest of your life, anyway, what's a few more years?

I should probably add that I genuinely don't know what my romantic or sexual orientations are, maybe aro-ace (although I'm heavily alexithymic and apathetic so I think claiming that might be jumping the gun in my case), and I have no interest in relationships. I can't comment on this issue from a personal perspective.

I have been in relationships that have lasted over two years and they did not work out, so I think if your relationship can last that long then it is probably a good sign.

There is no "better for everyone" answer to this. It depends on the people.

I have friends that dated in high school that are nearing 60 years old and have been married for 40 years and have been with no other.

Others (like me) simply don't belong in a romantic relationship.

Yet others are promiscuous and don't do or aren't good at monogamy.

What is the difference in your mind between a "partnership" and a "marriage" besides a piece of paper and distribution of property if and when the relationship ends?
