“He shot and killed horrifically, incomprehensibly, 14 students and killed a teacher. Mr. Ramos, the shooter, he himself is deceased and its believed that responding officers killed him,” Abbott told a news briefing.

My pleas for reasonable gun control measures have fallen om deaf ears.! I have repeatedly called for universal background checks of prospective firearm purchasers, red flag laws enabling firearms be taken away from mentally disturbed gun owners, and a federal registry as well as a hefty tax on high capacity magazines. These reasonable gun control measures very well could have prevented further mass shooting loss of lives!

Why does this keep happening?
Because the gun lobby or NRA has brainwashed most Americans into believing that reasonable gun control measures infringe on their Constitutional 2nd amendment rights!

While I mourn the dead, I will continue to support the an individual's right to own/carry a firearm.
I favor non-mentally deranged individuals having the right to possess firearms for self-defense and hunting food or for sport, I oppose enabling mentally deranged persons the means to perpetrate mass shootings!

(edit0 **Perhaps we can agree to the legality of civilians possessing bolt-action rifles, pump-action shotguns, and six shooter guns like revolvers, as well as prohibiting the private ownership of semi-auto firearms with high capacity magazines.**

A little decorum.

America has a young psychopath problem. Not a gun problem.

Guns were just fine until this sick in the head generation arrived on the scene.

FACT CHECK: A Little Gun History

Based on the actual evidence at hand, we find it reasonable to conclude that gun confiscations, facilitated by laws requiring the registration and/or licensing of firearms, played a crucial role in the carrying out of twentieth-century genocides. However, gun control per se — properly defined as a set of laws regulating gun ownership that can range from minimally restrictive to outright prohibitive — is neither a cause nor even a reliable predictor of mass exterminations, whereas the presence of a repressive military dictatorship most certainly is. --Snopes article
But yes I still kind of love guns. I am also scared of them, but they are tools and machines. My thinking is that the solution to school shootings is something other than banning guns or registering guns. I think the schools kind of suck.

I actually attended a school that sucked, and I actually imagined killing my fellow students. It was a terrible school and a terrible situation. If I hadn't been sane, I probably would have found a way. It was a private Christian church school, too small, and I was socially backward. Not far away there was another similar school of similar size, and a student there got a gun and started shooting other students...not 5 years after I graduated from my school. I understood how that student felt, and I felt grateful that I had not made the same mistake. I could have. Schools suck today. It sucks to be a student at many of them, and its frequent that students feel hated by their fellow students. Its not healthy.

I wish there were statistics somewhere to show how Second Amendment right to bear arms ("A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"):
  1. Has accomplished its purpose (ensuring the security of a free state), and
  2. Has resulted in exactly the opposite.
In other words, how many American lives have been saved because y'all swagger about with firearms (Sept. 11 comes to mind), and contrast that with how many lives have been lost for the same reason.

I'm sure it would be fascinating.

There have been more than 210 mass shootings in the U.S. this year -- and it isn't even June yet!

I don't make my decisions about public policy
only when some terrible event happens. Too
many people have only simplistic over-reactions
only after each & every horror. Give some
thought in between, eh.

Then you will continue to have this discussion, and you will continue to mourn. Sounds like futility to me.

Please rest assured, most Americans are sick and tired of having to mourn the deaths of mass shootings, Sensible gun control measures will soon be enacted!

How many useful gun related public policy measures have
been enacted because "y'all" ignore the issues until raging
over a shooting, & demanding an end to gun rights?

No they won't. But I will say that I wouldn't be against some revisions like age requirements and the issues concerning fire rate.

While this is tremendously sad, I cant help but wonder why an 18 year old would shoot up an elementary school.

I know many hundreds of people who own guns. All of them are responsible and haven't went out shooting up places or killing people.
Its a people problem, not a gun problem.
