Fourteen students and one teacher were killed Tuesday during a shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said.

“He shot and killed horrifically, incomprehensibly, 14 students and killed a teacher. Mr. Ramos, the shooter, he himself is deceased and its believed that responding officers killed him,” Abbott told a news briefing.

My pleas for reasonable gun control measures have fallen om deaf ears.! I have repeatedly called for universal background checks of prospective firearm purchasers, red flag laws enabling firearms be taken away from mentally disturbed gun owners, and a federal registry as well as a hefty tax on high capacity magazines. These reasonable gun control measures very well could have prevented further mass shooting loss of lives!

I favor non-mentally deranged individuals having the right to possess firearms for self-defense and hunting food or for sport, I oppose enabling mentally deranged persons the means to perpetrate mass shootings!

But yes I still kind of love guns. I am also scared of them, but they are tools and machines. My thinking is that the solution to school shootings is something other than banning guns or registering guns. I think the schools kind of suck.

I actually attended a school that sucked, and I actually imagined killing my fellow students. It was a terrible school and a terrible situation. If I hadn't been sane, I probably would have found a way. It was a private Christian church school, too small, and I was socially backward. Not far away there was another similar school of similar size, and a student there got a gun and started shooting other students...not 5 years after I graduated from my school. I understood how that student felt, and I felt grateful that I had not made the same mistake. I could have. Schools suck today. It sucks to be a student at many of them, and its frequent that students feel hated by their fellow students. Its not healthy.

I wish there were statistics somewhere to show how Second Amendment right to bear arms ("A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"):

1. Has accomplished its purpose (ensuring the security of a free state), and
2. Has resulted in exactly the opposite.

In other words, how many American lives have been saved because y'all swagger about with firearms (Sept. 11 comes to mind), and contrast that with how many lives have been lost for the same reason.

I'm sure it would be fascinating.

There have been more than 210 mass shootings in the U.S. this year -- and it isn't even June yet!

No they won't. But I will say that I wouldn't be against some revisions like age requirements and the issues concerning fire rate.

While this is tremendously sad, I cant help but wonder why an 18 year old would shoot up an elementary school.

I know many hundreds of people who own guns. All of them are responsible and haven't went out shooting up places or killing people.
Its a people problem, not a gun problem.
