Religion service and the pandemic

This is a question for all religions that have religious services. How has the Pandemic changed the service, have many closed down? What about internet zoom and Facebook services, have those gone up? What about the use of masks and social distancing are religious services utilizing? Have donations and contributions gone down or stayed the same?

I will say that some churches have closed, others have grown. Internet use is up - attendance is the same. Some wear masks and others don't. No one seems to want social distancing. Those who do stay home.

Our church shut down in person services for a few weeks, then reopened and grew during the pandemic. I think staying shut down is a recipe for a dead church. Those who are scared to come still won't either way, let people make up their own minds. I thought that the handshake was dead for awhile and it made me sad, but don't even think about it now...if someone wants to shake hands or hug it's cool with me. You just can't live in fear.

We're still virtual which is a good thing given that Covid cases are rising again.

I'd check with your local hospital to see if infections are down. The hospital here no longer requires masks except around patients, so people in the hallways working there can see one another's faces, now. The pandemic has slowed a lot in this area, and hospital intake is 1/5 what it was only months ago. I don't know if that will change, if people will start getting sick again or not.

Some churches unfortunately will not make it through the pandemic, but I know many will take the hit and rise up stronger than before.

My coven has met a few times since last fall. We generally meet outdoors so social distancing isn't a problem. The recent Beltane gathering was our largest since before the pandemic. Our members always have the option of solitary practice. We've held rituals and meetings via the internet. A pandemic can test a religious group. Most will survive and flourish.
