I recently began keeping a journal again.

For me, it is more of a record than an emotional outlet. I was merely curious to see if there were any trends or patterns. I've been doing it for about a week, and boy, are there ever.

It seems almost every day is pretty much the same. The activities vary(went to park today, went to museum yesterday, etc), but there's still that common feeling of 'trucking through'. (Check box, done! Check next box, done!)

This isn't bad, really. And I think its pretty common. I'm not complaining. Most have some routines(honestly, I probably have less routine than most). I just wondered if there's a way to make each(or at least some) days seem special, and how to begin living in a fuller way. (I also wonder if I'm just overthinking this, as that's totally something I do.)

Why don't you also journal a thought for the day? Something that God is speaking to you?

Have you asked us the most happiest countries in the world, how we do it? Well, we are not really that happy. We are content with our lives.
The problem with being really happy, is that it wears off in the brain and becomes average, so it doesn't work in the long run. You end up hunting the next high of happiness. Don't hunt those, be content and then you have the opportunity to be happy, when it happens naturally.
So if everyday life works for you, you are actually there and just enjoy that.

This advise is worth twice what you're paying for it but how about starting small. It might be as small as "today I saw a flower that was special because it was in full bloom". "today was special because I listened to a song I really love that I had not heard for a month" - that kind of thing.

Today my thought about living fuller is to have a really good stretch before getting out of bed in the morning.

The same principle - don't censor your thoughts - just write them down even if they feel silly or you are sure you could do better. Write your brainstorms down.

"today I'm going to catch myself overthinking what is the tiny special thing or my imperfect thought about living a fuller life."

"today I'm going to read another good piece on how to journal to help me make the next step".

This is from a challenge I took in 2013 to write a poem every day for a month. Some I still like today. Others? Two examples. First April 1sth:
Covering himself with a variegated petticoat,
the wise fool babbles and bells his sage jokes.

His wordy scepter is head filled with vacuous thoughts
which he scatters hither and tither as he capers about.

His air filled pouch contains only the most common words
which he strings together in cartwheels of celebration.

Some cast eyes on him and call him motley.
He smiles to himself and keeps his breeches closed.

April 10?
Nothing to say
today.

Yet more fiddling
the result is middling.

now I just head.
Time to go to bed

Try doing that and also looking up prompt questions online or get a journal that asks questions. That way you can dig deep in your mind

That's a good idea. :) And if the powers that be had nothing to say to me that day, maybe I can jot down something I'd like to say to them. :)

Another good idea, as it will force me to pay more attention to the details! I think I forget to do that sometimes(most of the time).

Awesome poems, by the way!

I agree with you there. I'm content the vast majority of the time. I'm neutral a lot, too. Sometimes I'm exhausted, but when I review the activities surrounding the feeling, its appropriate.

Searching out that 'happiness high'(which I suspect is more of an adrenaline rush), often leads to a similar crash...

Wise words you speak. :)

My journal doesn't say much... its an old black book. :D

I always have to ask "where the heck is it?" I tend to keep it under the bed(I record dreams if I can poke myself awake enough for it), but sometimes the cats knock it around.

Maybe try one thing spontaneously every day.
Take a different route to somewhere.
Go to a different cafe.
Try something on a menu you normally wouldn’t (excepting for medical reasons obviously.)
Maybe something as simple as stopping to look at your surroundings and really take them in.
I’m a very habitual creature by nature. But I too deviate from my little bubble and it’s surprisingly refreshing

Before we got Covid, we were going on a walk on a different road in the city each day. I need to get back to that...

I was a shut in before COVID honestly lol
But even I like to “stop and smell the roses” every once in a while.
As a wise lady once said
“We dance to show God we are thankful to be alive.”
So my advice is to have a random dance party lol

I was, too! Actually, there was very little personal change when Covid hit... just all the sudden the kids were home from school.

Is it okay that my version of dancing is jumping on the furniture? :D I have two couches to jump from...

Ahh yeah that would be rather daunting lol
Having to entertain the Rugrats all the time instead of having school to at least do that some of the time for you lol
My cousin had the same problem with her son. After school and weekends are one thing. But 24/7? Lol suddenly I was the “favourite Aunty” hmmmm

I’d say that’s more than acceptable :D

It was daunting! And we had to quit the gym, which is where I let them burn their energy out at! In the long run, we ended up homeschooling, so time off is a lost concept, but at that time... I think I had a mild meltdown.

Its great you're around to be Aunty! :D

I don’t blame you lol
We’ve largely opened up where I live. So things are “back to normal” though with more online shopping than before I guess lol

Oh yeah I’m so thrilled
Nah I love the kid. But I’m very grateful that as an Aunty I can hand him back :D
They just moved up from NSW (state next to mine.)
So poor guys have the recluse hermit as their guide around town lol. Which has not yielded great results. Since I’m terrible with directions on a good day. But I’ve shown them our Lagoon (public pool) the various shops, my fave haunts and beaches. So hopefully that’s enough to keep the little blighter out of too much trouble

Yeah, things here are as normal as they're going to get. I do more online shopping than ever, I think... stuff's out of stock so much, its almost not worth bothering with the store.

Sounds like he has what he'll need to have a good summer! :D

Self analysis can be useful, yet I seem to think the simple adage that you cannot step on the same piece of water twice, shows there is always something different and new placed in the mix at any givin moment.

@sun rise I totally spent a good paragraph writing about a Croatian candy bar I ate in yesterday's entry. :D

And @KenS , I ended the entry with a message for the Divine. :)
