Hard to believe that at one time in the past, they were actually one political party.
In name only. That party split into the Democrat party and the Whigs, and the Whigs collapsed shortly before Lincoln won. The Republican part was the largest party that rose out of the ashes. The modern day Republican party was formed two years before the Whig collapse. They in effect took over what was left.

What I meant is that rightists do not want to silence anybody, on average. They do not want to censor anyone.
Considering the right apparently supported the infamous “don’t say gay bill” just recently, I find that claim optimistic at best.
All I ever hear about the Republican Party are bills literally prohibiting what can and can’t be said. I’m all for educational standards, but even our Conservative party would deem such bills as nonsensical.

But then again I’m not American so I dunno.
No real dog in this race. All I can do is observe from afar.
With that said the Dems seem like our Labor
party. Weak, without backbone and kind of meh overall.
The Republicans seem puritanical, afraid of even the hint of sex and ultimately kind of whiny if I’m honest. (Sorry)
“Whaah I got kicked off a social media platform! It’s just like 1984! Whah!!”
Like wow, such defenders of free speech right there.
The Dems aren’t much better. A bunch of wokescolds crying because they saw a naughty word somewhere. But I’m not terribly familiar with any bills they’ve proposed that literally curtail free speech (and I mean actually curtail free speech and not just private companies having terms of service.)
At least no bills that are as infamous as the previously mentioned Don’t Say Gay Bill.
Maybe someone will be kind enough to enlighten me so I can join in with them in the mocking of the “free speech hating lefties.”

My own words wouldn't mean anything to people like you anyways. Even with the fact that I live by example, in one of the most authoritarian states in the nation.

Democrats are authoritarian.

Yes, you provided a link by professionals that you haven't even read yourself, but you expect me to read a 47-page paper and see it as a viable source to back up your argument against the Democrats? Why would you post a paper that you believe backs you up when you haven't even read it? And if your words don't mean anything to me, Twilight Hue, then I wouldn't have asked you twice now to provide a few specific examples and statistics to back up your accusation against the Democrats, and you have refused to do so.

All you've done is rant and post an anti-liberal propaganda paper. Who are the people who contributed and wrote the paper? What's their political affiliation? What kind of credibility do the authors of the paper have? Why should anyone believe what's written in this paper? And for the record, you didn't post any specific examples in your post. Please post some verifiable examples and statistics that substantiate the accusations in your post. I'm not going to immediately believe your accusation or accept the source you post at face value post just because you think it backs your argument. Let's see some specific examples and statistics that verify your accusations.

No, I didn't read all 47 pages. Have you? And your reply doesn't answer my questions as to why I should read the paper and take its content into consideration. Have you read all 47 pages? If you've read the paper from start to finish, then please post some specific examples of why you agree with its content. If you haven't read the paper, then why did you post it? I'd still like to see a few verifiable examples and statistics that substantiate the accusations in your other post. Surely you have specific examples that you can post.

Democrats tend to have authoritarian minds in a larger extent, as they do nothing but tell people how to live, what's good for them, and what to say and not to say, what they can and cannot eat, what they can and cannot wear, by their standards usually in context or for the children, or in the name of health and safety.

I realize that I'm more likely to get a better response from a brick wall than from you, but I'll ask anyway. Would you care to provide some verifiable facts to substantiate the examples you mentioned? How is YOUR life being controlled by the Democrats in your state?

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

For me, its quality of life and the pursuit of happiness.

I can't go to a smoking bar and play pool anymore.

Can't ride anymore in the back of my own private pu truck with friends and have fun in the breeze.

Can't ride my own private motorcycle without a helmet as an adult.

Seat belts are mandatory in my own private vehicle and now it includes mandated back seat belt laws as well.

Can't park my car on my own lawn overnight on my own private property without getting a ticket.

If my lawn is too high on my own private property I get a notice in bright red.

Can't drink a beer while walking down a sidewalk with friends without harassment.

I'm heavily taxed and fee'd to death.

I like plastic bags for a slew of practical reasons. If I use paper bags now, the state charges a mandatory user fee for itself for each and every bag

Can't find a restaurant that cooks food in tallow so it tastes good like back in the day.

Can't purchase firearms without a sea of red tape.

I must have auto insurance adding to the expense of driving my own private car.

All of this was once legal
when I was young and there were no problems or issues until Democrats intervened and declared it illegal in the name of health and safety of course and its for the children.

That was just a few examples which go much deeper than my personal quality of life issues with authoritarian Democrats.

Others write about much much more, and in more depth and detail of which you will just blow off in pompous fashion anyways as propaganda.

Twilight Hue, I live in Texas, which is a red state, and I can't do whatever I want whenever I want.

I can't park in front of my mailbox or else my mail won't be delivered.

I'll get fined by the code inspector if I don't keep my lawn mowed and cleaned up.

I can't cook and sell food to other people out of my house because of the zoning laws.

I can't block someone else's driveway with my car, or else my car would be towed at my expense.

I'm legally required to have auto insurance adding to the expense of driving my own private vehicles.

I'm legally required to have an updated registration on all my vehicles, whether they're drivable or not.

I'm legally required to have an emissions test done on my car, and it must pass or it won't pass inspection.

I'm legally required to wear a seat belt and everyone else in the car is also legally required to wear a seat belt.

My husband and I had to cover up our boat with a tarp because it's legally required for all boats to be covered.

My husband and I had to move our motorcycles out of view of the public street because a neighbor complained.

My husband and I had to put more gravel down on our extra driveway because it wasn't up to code with the city.

Every citizen in the town where I live is required to park their RV under a carport, and they can't park it on the street.

People can't stand in front of a store and do nothing, and if they do, they could be arrested and charged with loitering.

I live in a small rural town that is staunchly pro-Trump conservative and dominated by these conservatives on the city council. I live in Texas, which is also staunchly pro-Trump conservative and dominated by Republicans, including the governor. I experience much of what you experience and more, so I don't see any valid reasons for you to complain about Democrats being authoritarian when the Republicans leaders in Texas are just as guilty of being authoritarian by legally controlling the lives of its citizens. It goes both ways.

According to the law in Texas, if you want to hold public office in Texas, you’ll first need to acknowledge the existence of a supreme being. But the law also says, "No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall anyone be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments.” - 20 Weird Laws in Texas That Actually Still Exist

You still have to do that? My state, a very blue one, realized that the very low number of cars that failed . . . oh wait, Texas, okay never mind.

At any rate we no longer have emissions tests here.

:facepalm:Good grief. Even that says it's nothing more than rumors and not settled and may not even be weed, and likely illegal.
In the absence of precise knowledge of North Korean legislation, all we have are suppositions based on personal observations and testimonies, the value of which is questionable.

Indeed, there is evidence that cannabis is seen on par with other drugs in the country. Swedish diplomat Torkel Stiernlof, who resides in North Korea, states that “”There should be no doubt that drugs, including marijuana, are illegal here […] One can’t buy it legally and it would be a criminal offense to smoke it”” [5]
...
How do we explain these contradictory testimonies? The Guardian[6] provides some interesting answers. According to the newspaper, the legend that North Korea is a paradise for cannabis enthusiasts was born of a misunderstanding. There’s confusion between hemp, cannabis, and ip dambae.

Ip dambae is extremely common and strongly resembles cannabis, hence the confusion. North Koreans who can’t access tobacco smoke it. However, there is one significant difference: ip dambae is not psychoactive. The director of the Young Pioneer Tours agency, Troy Collins, explains that he bought this hemp and does not contain THC and generate any high.[7]

Another likely source of confusion is the large production of industrial hemp, a crop widely promoted by the North Korean authorities. Unlike cannabis, hemp does not contain THC (or traces) and is therefore not psychoactive. However, the two plants look similar, and North Korea is one of the world’s leading hemp producers. When you know that hemp also grows in the wild in this secretive country, it’s not hard to imagine tourists gawking at fields of hemp stretching as far as the eye can see, developing fantasies and rumours that have no basis in fact.
