You know this was New York state right? It already has extreme restrictions on guns. So much for laws stopping criminals.
They don't have screening for people buying guns, only background checks. So mentally unstable people with no felonies can get what they want. We need to be careful who gets their hands on dangerous weapons. It could be you who gets shot to pieces the next time you go to your grocery store.

Dude! You missed the solution staring you in the face. No need to go full totalitarian. Just make New York's reasonable laws national ones.
Even federal laws don't work. Look at the drug trade already. Guns are just another commodity and there are enough countries out there that would happily supply military arms to Big Tony for free even to sell cheap on the black market.

Guns and drugs are not equivalent. Very few people get addicted to guns.

Peak firearms has a good listing.

New York Gun Laws | Peak Firearms

My finger is tired.
I read some of them elsewhere and will admit that many of the regulations are foolish.

That does not mean that reasonable gun laws are not possible.

I have to agree that for the most part the assault rifle ban was stupid. They banned the gun on looks instead of what it did.

So what if a gun has a stylized grenade launcher on it. Is a shooter going to find any ammo for it?

In that case we should go after the . . . oh oh.

Seriously I do get tired of people that do not realize where black market guns come from.
They may not come from anywhere. A skilled machinist can easily produce a working non serialized firearm for him or herself for black market gains under the radar and make quite a bit of coin in the process.

Yawn. Welcome to America. Shootings are like fireworks at Myrtle Beach -- just something you do every day.

So sad, but true! All I am asking of my fellow Americans is that any civilian firearm's load capacity be limited within reason so as to prevent most anybody from being able to massacre a multitude of people within a matter of a few minutes. I hope this latest mass shooting will persuade the American public to pressure the U.S, Congress to enact legislation effectively banning the private ownership of high-capacity magazines , this gun control measure keeping most anybody from having the means to perpetrate a mass shooting in America,

Not to worry he is packing heat. Just like the security guar . . .

Hmm, you might have a point.

That's the point. Too many people are labeling or implying designer weapons as being real assault military grade weapons when they're not with features that are there just for show.

I think a background check and waiting period is reasonable.

Maybe even a mandatory safety and security course prior to possession would be ok including time at a range. Something that would be repeated should a person fail a course until they pass. A certification.

Uh huh, and how is he going to sell them.

You do not seem to realize that collectors, the main one he could possibly sell to, do not tend to go on killing sprees... It is Joe Shmoe who just wants a gun quick and easy.

You are not reasoning rationally here.

I don't care if people buy pretty guns that don't do too much. That ban was stupid.

What worries me are very high speed rounds and high capacity magazines. Put some strong controls on them and mass shootings will drop.

Though that is only a very small part of our gun problem.

You never heard of the mob?

I'm not reasoning more than seeing things in a practical and realistic manner.

I recommend not holding your breath. Too many Americans feel like they,re totally naked if they don't have a firearm somewhere on their body.
