I can't tell you how many Bible Christians say "the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon, Pagan, Unchristian, Religion of the Antichrist"!

Yet they get their "Christian Bible" and New Testament Canon , from this "Satanic, Whore of Babylon, Demon worshipping, Religion of the Antichrist, evil Church of abominations" , that it makes no sense for them to trust in such a book in the first place.

If the Catholic Church is soooo evil, then why trust a Catholic book like the Bible??

The Christian New Testament Canon is undeniably, irrefutably Catholic, because the Catholic Church at Rome, Carthage, and Hippo , determined that was the correct Canon, (of so many other sacred texts about Jesus floating around). The Church protected and reprinted that book for centuries, and the only institution for countless generations to do so!

The Catholic Church also included the Deuterocanonicals in the Christian Bible, which Protestants ripped out, having no Biblical basis or authority for doing so.

Also, Jesus Christ with Moses on Mount Tabor isn't the only Scripture verse that makes it clear that the Spirits of the dead go on living.

Also, for over 1500 years, every Christian Church on the face of the earth promoted prayers for and to the souls in Heaven.

This modern (highly Unchristian) teaching that such prayers are Satanic prayers to Devil's, is extremely depressing enough that I could vomit!

It means God is so cruel and unreliable a Shepherd, he lied about his promises to be with his Church and "Upon this rock I will build my Church and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against her", was all a crock of BS!

Bible Christians (many of them) these days are preaching that every Christian Church on earth for over 1500 years , and their members, were a bunch of Satanic Devil worshippers!

It makes Christ look like a total liar and incompetent , dishonest, useless Shepherd if I've ever seen one! It creates the most depressing miserable story I've ever heard of!

Not to mention , it condemns and judges so many people as hellbound, Pagan, Idolater, Devil worshippers, that it is total bigotry, cruelty, and makes God look absolutely terrible, and life so dangerous, where Satan is in control of even Christians (everyone practically is going to Hell!) In view of this teaching, best thing your mother could apparently do is abort you in the womb, to save your soul from such a terrible God and such a Satanic world and Church!

I am not actually Catholic by the way for newbies. I won't follow what goes against my conscience in the Catechism.

I just find the "Bible Christians" painting such an incredibly depressing, ugly picture, and such bigotry, condemning so many people to Hell, and the Bible so chock-full of contradictions, that I will passionately defend Catholicism, despite having my issues with the Church as well.

I hope you feel me! :)

If you are a Bible Christian, and it makes you more kind to others and virtuous, raises your moral standards, keeps you in communion with a God who is love and mercy, by all means keep on that path!

Just try not to follow judgemental condemning stuff, and please don't call denominations prostitutes and whores and stuff. ;)

My boyfriend is a Catholic and I've been investing more time in researching the intricacies of Catholicism so I'm biased :p

I have a soft spot also for Anglicanism though as that was my Church.

There are over 300 versions of the bible in English, who knows how many in other languages. The vulgate (catholic bible) is the oldest surviving complete bible which was written around 80 years after the original.

Each of those bible versions is subtly different from any other and various sects (of which there are more than 40,000) interpret the bible they favour in the way that their sect prefers. This has caused considerable division of christianity with most sects saying theirs is correct and all the others are wrong and those who are wrong will burn in hell (or similar). The differences have also been the cause of killings and wars.

However there are no copies of the original bible in existence to compare so who knows which version of the bible and which sect are true followers of christianity?

I rated your post winner based on "Catholic boyfriend" (have you ever called him a Cannibal? :p ) and you studying Catholicism.

You should be a nun! :)

Anglicanism had a very corrupt founding Father who needed a divorce, and a lot of good people executed who wouldn't break away from the Pope. But I respect the Anglican Church as a little sister of the true bride of Christ (or something).

I like that Anglicans still wear the big hats, have the cool structures, chant Marian Hymns, pray to some of the Archangels and Saints, and have a very similar Mass liturgy.

(For a while they had monks and nuns too, but I think that is almost non existent these days... almost)

I have a soft spot for England, and the British (more so the Irish though). But I guess that means I have a soft spot for the Church of England.

Did you know the Catholic Church calls England "The Virgin Mary's Dowry", and Mary has said in various Marian apparitions "I shall get my Dowry (England) back!" :)

Anglican nuns are still very much a thing.

There are some differences between the Catholic and protestant Bibles, but they are largely irrelevant, nothing that should effect the basics.
I don't think Catholics satanic. I do believe that the Catholic church got way off course with indulgences and not allowing the common man to read the Bible and such. They became a corrupt organization and needed the reformation. Can some Catholic leaders be evil? Of course but there's many good Catholics. Like any denomination.

….. (everyone practically is going to Hell!)

Well, believe it or not, according the Catholic Douay Bible, everyone does go to Hell!

Ecclesiastes 9:10
Douay-Rheims Bible
Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge shall be in hell, whither thou art hastening.

IOW…”Hell, the place to which you, i.e., all of us are going.”

Hell is just not what most people are taught it is.
Started being taught by the Catholic Church, BTW

People's beliefs about hell are a long way from any bible teaching. The image of hell today is heavily influenced by Dante's inferno and the works of Hieronymus Bosch.

Its good to know that when i am threatened that i will go to hell for being atheist that the threat is more based on an epic comedy and masterpieces of art.

The Catholic Church is just too Christiany and Catholicy to be Satanic. Are they a perfect shiny example for Christendom? I don't know/don't care.

Firstly, I want to say, the teachings are not from those who collected the writings. they only combined them to one book. I think those who actually wrote the scriptures did God’s work.

Also, I think those who combined them have done God’s work. If later the group has been infested with evil people, it does not mean that the original group was evil.

The KJV also uses 'hell' for Sheol too.

But so few Catholics use the DR now it's basically moot. They use the RSV CE or the NRSV, generally, in Europe. In the US it seems to be the NAB. Either way, the DR is about 150 years out of date and is not generally used any longer.

You mean there are “over 300 translations of the Bible in English.” Translational differences are inconsequential.

It was translated — not “written.” And it was developed in 382 CE, translated from the LXX and copies of the Greek texts. The LXX was begun in the 3rd century BCE, so your timeline is incorrect.

The term is “Sheol,” and it doesn’t mean “hell.” it simply means “the place of shadows,” or “the place of the dead.” In the theology of the culture that produced Ecclesiastes, there was no “heaven” or “hell.” This life was really all one had. Therefore, it’s disingenuous to claim that Ecclesiastes says “everyone goes to hell.”

You think, try reading/comparing say the kjv with the niv.

It was translated — not “written.” And it was developed in 382 CE, translated from the LXX and copies of the Greek texts.

Ok I'll tell
Summary Descriptions of Versions of the Bible.
And many other authorities that they are wrong, thanks for the heads up.

Latin Vulgate

The Latin translation of the Bible written by St. Jerome, who was asked by Pope Damasus in 382 A.D. to bring order out of the proliferation of Old Latin versions which were in
circulation.
There are older but i don't believe they are complete.
And i do believe at that time printing didn't exist so yes, written is quite accurate

Incorrect. There was a church in Britain and Ireland that was differentiated from Rome long before the Tudors were in power. The Synod at Whitby, in 664 CE debated whether to follow the church of Colmcille (Iona), or the Roman tradition. Not all churches in the Western Isles submitted to Rome, so Anglicanism was not “founded” by Henry. It merely represented an official, government-supported break with Roman authority.

(For a while they had monks and nuns too, but I think that is almost non existent these days... almost)
The early form of Xy in the British Isles was based upon monasticism. When Rome began to really have influence, Rome killed the monastic system for the most part. But there is a thriving monastic system in modern Anglicanism.

Been there, done that; that work is my profession. The differences are inconsequential, for the most part.

The niv has, in several chapters whole (and relevant) verses are omitted from the niv. You may consider that inconsequential but such differences in various translations over time have resulted in over 40,000 schisms and several wars

Hell is the grave. Everyone goes there.

Does the Old Testament word Sheol have Greek or Hebrew origins?
