I'm only human.

And maybe I didn't realize that the settings on the freezer were at max, thus freezing the whole fridge. You know?

Making it impossible to work.

So now I need to defrost it.

So if anyone needs me, I'll be the girl with the hair dryer defrosting my fridge.

Also, yes, I know I can unplug it. I will.

(But at least now I don't need to buy a new one or pay for repairs).

We'd make a great team. I take stuff out of it then forget to close the lid.

That's rather a result, then!

I probably need to defrost my freezer too, but my kitchen is too cold in winter. It takes ages, as I'm too lazy to muck about with hair dryers: I just turn it off, empty everything into a cool bag with some cold blocks, and leave the freezer door open for a couple of hours. I'll do it in the spring.

“I’ll do it in the spring” is an excellent motto to live by imo. Especially at this time of year.

Its a winner...

Trick i use when d frosting the freezer,
Wrap the food up in plenty's of newspaper and place it in freezer bags, a fridge (or here, at the moment, outside), switch off, open the door about a foot, place cardboard over the top v gap and down leaving enough space at the bottom for ...

... A fan heater to blow warm air in.

Just keep checking and mopping up the defrosted water, definitely don't let it run to the fan heater... around half hour later, job done

Reminds me of once getting Mr Truck stuck in
some mud. Eventually I realized that for the front
wheels to work, I had to lock in the hubs (to get
4 wheel drive). The universe wailed "Duh!".

So do I.

But, being European, I often cook dishes that do not have to be eaten immediately. So I can save effort by cooking enough for 2 meals and freezing half. Also I have a number of prepared ingredients, such as stock, pesto, stewed fruit, breadcrumbs, etc., which can be made in advance, kept frozen and defrosted for use as needed, plus a few frozen fruits and vegetables that are seasonal and freeze well, such as broad beans and peas.

Since my son went off to university I use the freezer even more, as I am usually cooking just for myself. So to justify the effort of preparation it makes sense to make enough for 2 or 4, and freeze the extra for labour-free meals later.
