The pandemic has given us yet another benefit....
Recording & publishing of acts that were formerly kept secret.
In this case, we have a judge behaving very badly.
Because the recording became known, there will
likely be appropriate consequences.

Illinois judge's reversal of rape conviction draws anger
A judge in western Illinois who found an 18-year-old man guilty of sexual assaulting a 16-year-old girl has come under fire after he threw out the conviction this month and said the months he spent in jail was punishment enough.
In October, Adrian found Clinton guilty of felony sexual assault, but during a Jan. 3 sentencing hearing he said he would not impose the mandatory minimum sentence of four years in prison.
“Mr. Clinton has served almost five months in the county jail, 148 days,” Adrian said, according to the court transcript of the hearing posted online by local media. “For what happened in this case, that is plenty of punishment. That would be a just sentence.”

“There is no way,” the judge explained, “for what happened in this case that this teenager should go to the Department of Corrections. I will not do that.”

And then he went on the attack, seemingly blaming the parents for the sex assault - slamming them for "allowing" the party to be hosted, "allowing" teens to "swim in their underwear in their swimming pool" and "allowing" alcohol.

"You wonder how these things happen? Well, that's how these things happen," Adrian said.

Interesting, I was under the impression that sexual assault occurred when an individual was making sexual contact with someone else without their consent. I have been to several "boozy party" and I don't recall having ever committing nor been the victim of sexual assault. That's very strange.

Intoxication removes the ability of sound mind and judgement and as alcohol is used by predators it should be sexual assault. It's really not much different than resorting to rohypnol.

I am well aware of that and agrees that alcohol can be used to sedate victims of sexual assault or facilitate it with other substances. I think the ridiculous argument of the judge was that the perpetrator was drunk and thus should be treated with leniency because his judgement was impaired. The problem is that we don't make that distinction when it comes to other crimes committed while drunk; being drunk doesn't make one violent or abusive and is not an excuse for the commission of a crime unless, maybe, you were given alcohol without your consent.

Experience tells me to be dubious about the Daily Mail, the supporter of Hitler, Brexit and of course right wing demigods makes me nervous
Breitbart on rare occasion has been right. Gotta attack the message and not just the source.

I disagree, if the article is in the Daily Mail, I am suspicious - how are they spinning it? What are they omitting?
Any content in the Mail needs checking before accepting as fact

I told you that I verified it from several sources before selecting
this one.
Your post asks challenging questions as though this is relevant
information, but offers nothing to counter the story. It's just ignorant
irrelevant knee jerk objection. It happened.
A question raised....why continue pursuing discrediting the story?
Opposition to holding judges accountable for wrongful acts?
