Beyond burgers and beyond fried chicken.

We Never Know

Besides several burger chains making beyond burgers made from plants,,, KFC has now came out with beyond fried chicken made from plants.

My question is why does anyone want their plant food to look like burgers or fried chicken?

I just don't get it.

I see it as marketing gimmicks to attract niche consumers.

I have yet to see cultured meat make a debut and it's actually real meat, not plants.

To have a burger when you don't want meat? I haven't had Habit Burger's Impossible Burger yet, but the Burger King one isn't bad. Not good, and no match for the real thing, but not bad.

My question is why would a vegetarian go to a burger joint in the first place?

The best burger I've ever had was from a vegetarian fast food restaurant in San Diego, CA. The fries were really good, too...

Some vegetarians miss the product, but don't like where it comes from. I think for those, it kinda helps the craving.

We often get dragged to them by non-vegetarian friends and family. One also might stop by if they're looking for something they can pick up through a drive through.

I like to mold my meat loaf into the shape of corn on the cob. I eat what I want, but feel virtuous.

I used to like going to Burger King for their Impossible Whooper. I've not been there very often recently, since I noticed their service has declined considerably since the labor shortage caused by the C.O,V.I.D.-19 pandemic. I guess $14/hour an hour isn't enough pay for them to employ enough decent workers in order to promptly serve me.

You would think that by me paying nearly seven dollars for my B.K. lunch and with fast food workers nowadays being well paid, I'd be able to get a couple of impossible Whoppers within five minutes from the time I've placed my order. Right?

No, but from what I remember, you don't care for vegetables, so why would you?

I'd say the vast majority of vegetarians don't give up meat due to dislike of taste, but rather health or ethical reasons. Eating something that looks like what they're familiar with may appeal to them.

Ours can't keep itself staffed, period. It opens late and closes early now.
