Answer from God

If a believer has been praying for a long time to God ( put in the God you pray to) but it seems as God does not answer.
That does not mean God isn't answering the prayer, but the answer was given to the person in an unexpected way, so the believer think, God did not answer. But actually it was the believer who was not paying attention:)

Thoughts?

I think that's possible. I also think God answers "no" a lot of the time but this is ignored because people don't like it.

I agree with you both.:)

Sounds like a way to give God credit for the hits and the misses. It makes the belief that God answers prayer unfalsifiable. So I can see why it would be attractive to some people.

Hit and misses?
Do you think if a person pray for something, God should always give a positive answer?

That depends entirely on what God wants and what people pray for.

I was referring to the more fundamental belief that God answers prayers at all. If you pray and nothing happens, and you say, "well, God told me no," I don't see the functional difference between that and God simply not answering.

Ah now I understand you :)
I believe if God does grant us our prayer, we would gain wisdom from it, even we may not directly see the answer right after we pray.

Sounds to me as if the god in question is either a very ineffective communicator or that this god doesn't really care whether or not I understand its response. Otherwise it wouldn't reply to my important question with an unexpected riddle that I could easily overlook.

How do you determine if God answers a prayer?
I have not asked for something to directly happen to me or grant me some special ability.
I only prayed for deeper understanding of the teaching, and it has happened my understanding of a topic has been more clearly understood.
In hours or a few days after the prayer was given.

Spiritual practice does not work like that. You are never given a 100%clear answer. If one. Was, how could one arise in wisdom?

If God meant for the communication to be understood but it wasn't, then this is a failure on God's part.

If God didn't mean for the communication to be understood, it wasn't communication at all.

Maybe some humans has lost the ability to hear God. (Due to ignorance)
If humans can not understand or hear God, why is that Gods fault?

If God is "communicating" to people who he knows can't hear him, then this would be an example of the second case I gave.
Maybe humans have to awaken spiritually to be able to hear?
If God was just giving humans the answers all the time, how would we arise in spiritual wisdom and be able to enter heaven?

God is already there, it is humans who must awaken.
