I am new to the forum. Not certain this is the right place for this topic or for the kind of Christian centered interaction I was looking for. But I will start a post and see where things go.

I just saw the Chosen Christmas special at the local theater. Because I love the show and wanted to demonstrate my support for it and because I thought I would enjoy it.

First let me say that I loved the actual video portraying Mary and Joseph seeking shelter in Bethlehem, finding the stable, and the birth of Jesus. As usual the acting was spectacular and they honored the Bible and brought it to life.

That being said, I have a serious criticism. Dallas started by saying they were going to do something different with the music. They were going to make it real, to make it as real as our faith. They followed that up by spoon feeding us one lip sync'ed, over produced music video after another. Performed by people sporting more jewelry than Mr T. Rings on every finger, ten bracelets on each wrist, ear rings, nose rings, necklaces, more gold than fort Knox, more tats than a convict convention.

I couldn't see any relationship between these people sporting so much wealth and opulence and worldliness and Jesus who was born in a Manger. Totally out of sync. Painted and shellacked and fake. I hope they don't think that is a "real" representation of peoples faith.

I find that any movie that tries to portray the divinity of Christ, will always fall short.

In this age, with relaxed virtues and morality, the efforts will be even darker.

Yet all we need is that Word to touch our hearts and in turn practice it as it was meant to be. May your Christmas be full of Christ and very little of the xmas.

I find The Chosen to be far from perfect but it has its brilliant moments that really resonated with me. And like I said, the video was great, the other stuff around it seemed way off to me.

And thank you for the Christmas wishes. I like your sentiment, "May your Christmas be full of Christ and very little of the xmas." In a way it reflects my criticism of the Christmas special.

I have not watched it yet, but was planning to this week. I have watched the entire first and second seasons of it. If you haven't, I'd very much recommend it: TV Series The Chosen

I could offer my critiques of it, but I appreciated it, and find lots of it inspiring. Nice to see the lives of the disciples as the central focus, rather than just another story of Jesus. I like their Jesus. He's got a sense of humor.
