I'm still catatonically depressed but language learning gives me a focus.

What are you doing?

What are you doing?

Studying (albeit not nearly as quickly as I'd like) vector algebra and calculus as well as Python, all for machine learning. I'm also about to apply for a part-time job as an English instructor.

Other than that, I'm gaming, hanging out with friends, and watching a lot of horror, as usual. :D

I was expecting something else from the title actually.

What am I doing? Right now recovering from a cardiac stress test earlier this morning which was preceded by a day with no caffeine and no breakfast this morning.

Other than that, volunteer work and yard work await.

Dealing with chaos around me.

Ares recently made huge steps with his speech, speaking partial sentences and gaining increased clarity(despite a stutter developing). However, he seems to have forgotten a lot of him math in the process(his speech therapist ensured me he didn't forget, its just another part of his brain is currently the focus), so we're reviewing that quite a bit.

LeeAnder has writing assignments. This is not a skill he possesses. I am having to hand walk him through these skills, and he is not fun to do this with(he's angry that he has to do the work at all). He's also going through his angsty teen stage. Not much fun.

My husband keeps taking candy from the Crazy Lady, and each time he does, the 'project' she funds blows up in his face. She paid to have his car painted so he would have more time to do her bidding. They painted it the wrong color. She sent it to the shop to have the engine looked at. They told him the body is so badly damaged, there is no sense in repairing the engine. He can't find anyone to repair the body. He's become obsessed with all these 'carrots' she keeps dangling in front of him, that, just seem to keep eluding him and its driving him mad.

Yudhi has hit the terrible threes(twos were a breeze), and everything is all wrong. But, he tells me, he's going to poop in a garbage truck, which makes me laugh every time. Its so nice to see him developing and growing.

It is a positive action as far as I can see.

The best advice I ever received regarding depression was to take action. Doing in some fashion leads to results and takes your focus away from the depression. Doing things that lead to small successes helps mitigate depression. Learning something new, reinforcing existing knowledge or finding some new insight may just be the best medicine.

but mostly it's the same
Having afternoon coffee, watching the birds at the bird feeder outside the window. It's a beautiful day today, sunny and 72. My cat is curled up next to me, gazing at me with what I'd like to think is adoration but is probably disgust.

As my therapist at the time told me re: accomplishing the smallest of tasks:

"The good feeling comes after."

She was right.

I was in a bad mood, so I created a thread about reflections. That seems to have helped. Even allowing a brief burst of non-destructive anger about what made me mad helped. Even anger can be used positively when properly managed.

Now I feel better.

Definitely not Missouri. Though, it is sunny, it is only 58 here. Or it was sunny. Still 58.

I'm putting a roof on my 110 year old three-story house that is close to the Country Club Plaza. Not enjoying it. Like not at all.

Having a coffee, eating a banana, thinking about making more coffee, though wondering if I want to take a nap later. I did not get the most sleep when I awoke a little while ago, but I don't feel that bad, right now. Might read books for an hour, then walk for an hour with a podcast. Maybe insufficient energy today to work on a music project, but maybe I should will myself into this. Make more coffee? Trying to avoid video games, but I usually fall into doing some of that as well.

Reading through the Iliad (Fagles translation.) And very slowly completing a 1,000 piece Where’s Wally (Where’s Waldo) puzzle. Usually when drinking. It’s oddly very relaxing

I often marvel at the energy and skill that women exercise in keeping a family glued together. My mother went back to school, while working and managing the household. I remain inspired.
