2: talk or write about (a topic) in detail, taking into account different issues or ideas.

Interfaith discussion is discussion about religious or spiritual topics across different religions and spiritual paths. It's a place where practitioners of religious teachings can express their personal understanding of the topic in discussion, and it is a place to learn what others believe.
Without being a jerk one listen and learn and did not directly critique the belief of others. Asking questions are the good way to discuss, telling someone they do hold a false belief or their God does not exist, is not ok in discussions

Is this the official policy of the website, then? If so, is interfaith discussion simply a place for stating one's beliefs? You can't actually discuss anything, just state your beliefs and read about what beliefs other people hold? I can stick to that. Even though it seems awfully boring, I can recognize that there should be a space for simple exposition.

You can discuss things in the interfaith discussion forum with many faith practitioners, but not debate them. Debate includes attacking another's views, or attempting to "prove them wrong" for example.

It's a place to share and discuss ideas.

Religious forums is structured to provide spaces for many different kinds of conversations. Different kinds of conversations belong in different areas of the forum:

1) Debates should be kept to the debate areas of the forums, including Religious Debates, General Debates, and Political Debates. Debating anywhere other than these forums may result in moderation. I haven't got a clue.
For the first time in yonks I have just posted in an interfaith thread because it is started by a staff member who actually wrote that anybody could post in it.

Otherwise........... I keep far far away from these.

I don't think some moderation is necessarily a problem. I trust a moderator just would direct or explain if there is a problem. As far as providing an article to aid in a discussion I see nothing wrong with that. I would hope some correction by moderators is welcomed by members.
