Why our educational system is the way it is.....

A video is worth a thousand words.

This woman math teacher has lost it. Her numbers don't add up.

It came off wrong, not sure what she was trying to do exactly. But still not as wrong as some of the things Trump, McConnell, McCarthy, Alex Jones, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, etc, etc, etc do on a regular basis.

Are you saying we should cancel her, in which case admitting you see a use in "woke" cancel culture?

Well you do make some good points as I'm not for cancel culture, I'm more focused on the fact that this bizzare display puzzles me in terms of what does this have to do with teaching math?

As an example a teacher teaching ww2 history not too long back was canceled out just by displaying a nazi flag as part of the lessons and it created a stink same as the math teacher.

Far more appropriate and relatable than the math teacher whom wasn't teaching about Native Americans in any historical context.

Counting? Lol

"One little, two little, three little Indians
Four little, five little, six little Indians
Seven little, eight little, nine little Indians
Ten little Indian boys.

Ten little, nine little, eight little Indians

I dunno. I've had my share of crazy teachers in my experience but nothing like that.
What I wanted to say is that knowledge builds and grows on knowledge - as does stupidity. It's not (only) single teachers, it is systemic - and it isn't new.
This meme
i-dont-understand-evolution-all-new-and-have-to-protect-14950079.png

is unfortunately very true.

"In the you-can’t-make-up-this-stuff department, here’s what the Republican Party of Texas wrote into its 2012 platform as part of the section on education:

Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority." - https://www.washingtonpost.com/blog...skills-really/2012/07/08/gJQAHNpFXW_blog.html

Stupidity grows on stupidity and the GOP is throwing fertilizer.

No offence but your educational system is somewhat mocked by the world at large. Has been for decades now.

But I’m no teacher or American. So I dunno what to tell you. The last controversy I remember seeing on the news was some Texas law requiring teaching “both sides” of the Holocaust. So y’all must be doomed if it’s come to that. Yikes

5 of the posts are USA centered.

What do you want in general? A discussion about education in general for the world as such or just this "Why our educational system is the way it is....." as for the USA?
It's obviously a US matter. Unless there are as many teachers elsewhere who act the same way.
