You can not find God as a physical being

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
I mean, how do you figure if you are not merely finding yourself rather than God when you look inside?
First you find who "you" are not, then you find God. By knowing yourself or rather knowing what you are not ( physical being) you can realize the higher form of consciousness(God)

How did you reach the conclusion this higher form of consciousness is God, rather than you yourself?

They can't. When have you heard an atheist ask how do you define God...let's talk from your perspective?

If God is like an FSM it misses the point.
I ask all the time, "Define god", "What do you mean by god?", etc. I have yet to receive a convincing answer that makes sense.

So, I'll fall for it ... How, Unveiled Artist, do you define god?

With this i mean the God many seeking is not there to be found, the God I become familiar with arise from within the practitioner of a spiritual teaching.

So by seeking outward you will not find God, the quality of God is within you.
God is a state of consciousness. Only by realizing the God consciousness will you see God.

Only when you find God you will know yourself, only by knowing yourself will you know God.

Any thoughts?

The Bible says this with : “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21) and "Be ye perfect..."

Do you believe we are on the inside?

Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath."

(and)

Search in the heart, in the heart alone:
There live Ram and Karim.
Which is false, Quran or Veda?
False is the darkened view.
It is one, one in every body.
How did you make it two?
Every man and woman born
They are all your forms, says Kabir

If you want to tell someone about love it's great theology but just words. You'd have to show them or describe it in a way that shows. People relate to experiences.

Discussion can have value otherwise why post anything on RF. But I agree that love automatically expresses itself in action.

so, within you is an other dimension?

In a sense, yes.

I went to about a half dozen congregations there, finding them all lifeless.

That would not surprise me. Most churches are dead and that's why attendance is going down.

Perhaps God exists outside of us, and through his teachings we can do good things? Why should we learn God's teachings if God is already inside us?

Why does a child have bicycle training wheels to help learn how to ride? Those who are motivated use such teachings to help them until they are no longer needed. As for me personally, I find them helpful reminders and I know some day I won't need them any more.

My understanding is that the Prophets are the embodyment of God on earth.

There are those who embody Divinity - Ramakrishna Paramhamsa and Ramana Maharshi in India, Hafiz and Rumi in the sufi tradition, St. Francis of Assisi in the Catholilc world and perhaps the Baal Shem Tov in Judaism.

How do you distinguish self from God then?

The lower self, ego, nafs, is "hydra headed" meaning that it manifests in forms that are hard to detect. One of my practices is to try to notice every time it sneaks into manifestation. With time, gradually, gradually, I'm getting a bit better at noticing it such as now when *I* am sharing *my* thoughts here on RF.

It's really impossible to capture the ineffable in words. If I've never had the experience of a headache and you tell me you have one. I can ask for a definition of what it feels like. You can describe characteristics and offer the science about what is going on, but the full meaning of a headache can't be communicated fully.

If I too have had one, then I know immediately what you're talking about without further explanation.

That is why there are statements like:
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath."

(and)

He is the "sun behind the sun behind the sun"

You will have your answer the day you yourself realize God within you.

In a N-dimensional universe where there are n-possibilites , I would not rule out finding physical beings of Godly nature compared to ourselves .

We ourselves are energy in a bio shell , what says life can't exist without the shell ? We formed so maybe there is just energy beings that formed .

Think wide my brother and you will see how narrow your thinking is . Imagine a planet with smart dinosaurs for example , that is possible .

I do already believe life exist without the shell as you called it, our true being is light ( in my current understanding) the body is not the real being.

What about the definitions you have received don't make sense? I've asked people that lots of times and I can not recall a time when their definition didn't make sense. How are the definitions not convincing?

People get slapped when they show love.

When I converse with people who speak a language that I don't, they usually don't disagree.

Show don't tell in language like writing a novel. People connect more by experiences. Saying "God exists" for example means nothing son e both sides have their own definition of God. Sharing what That person means by God and the other side accepting their definition is totally different (topic depending).
