Jesus Was a Druid?

Jesus Christ could have come to Britain to further his education, according to a Scottish academic.

Church of Scotland minister Dr Gordon Strachan makes the claim in a new film entitled And Did Those Feet.

The film examines the story of Jesus’ supposed visit, which survives in the popular hymn Jerusalem.

Dr Strachan believes it is “plausible” Jesus came to England for his studies, as it was the forefront of learning 2,000 years ago.
Jesus and the Druids

Mr Harrison, a former BBC religious affairs correspondent, says Jesus may just have been a boy when he left the Middle East for England.
Was Jesus taught by the Druids of Glastonbury? New film claims it is possible he came to England | Daily Mail Online

Personally, can't say I see much connection in the gospel stories.

I thought this hymn that this was based on would be ancient, it was made by William Blake. I'd say Jesus came to England not during His pre-Paschal existence, but by His spirit and Church and even visitations to the Saints later. Anything else I'd say is false and just as laughable as those who say He was a yogi or Egyptian mage.

But perhaps such visitations are all possible and based in reality, the Lord does as He wills.

Why would a Galilean Jew who goes on to become a simple carpenter go to Britain of all places?
His uncle, Joseph of Arimathia is believed to have travelled to Britian with his nephew.
i only know this because many people here(Glatonbury) believe this.
Lots on google "Joseph of Aramathia brings jesus to england".

I agree, don't see it as very plausible either, why on Earth should Jesus or God go to England to study? Imagine God going, "ohh my GOD!! what is that, I never knew about that?" :D

What is this person's reason for believing that it is a plausibility?

I should add that they believe he came with his uncle as a child and that JofA returned around 30CE with the 'Grail'(which people believe is buried in Glastonbury.

Supposedly there is a connection between Protagoras, the Essenes and the Druids.
3000 miles the trip could have taken 2-3 months.
The story is he went with his uncle to trade tin.

If you're a Celt amd on your way to Ynys Mon to begin education and training as a Druid.
Really I wish people would stop trying to attach the Briton Isles to the Middle East. This sounds as far fetched as Noah having a brother or someone like that who built his own ark and landed in Ireland.

Fair enough, it seems highly unlikely I would say. Nothing in the bible hint at that as far as I know at least. :)

There's an ark in Ireland?
OMG, I got to go see it. :D

The qustion in the Blake hymn is rhetorical, the holy lamb of God did not literaly walk upon England's mountains green. Blake's expressing an ambition to build God's kingdom in early 19th Century England. At the beginning of the industrial revolution England was a place characterised by inequality and injustice, and to Blake, she was in danger of losing her soul in the name of progress. The green and pleasant land was in desperate need of spiritual redemption. Still is, imo; we need more dreamers and half mad idealists like Blake, but they don't come along very often.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense and fits in with what I know of the great William Blake. God bless him. I should read his works more, for I do love his art.

This strikes me as about as believable as the Mormon belief that Jesus visited North America.

Not at all. I'm agnostic as to whether he was a real person in history. If he was, the Gospels contain almost no reliable information about him. IMHO.

Then I imagine I'm free to make up whatever fictional/historical account of Jesus I might fancy. :D

I seeing Jesus being born as a Celt, immigrating to Judah and attempting to convert the Jews to Druidry.
Plant a tree for Jesus.
