Fox news posted an article informing that CBS retracted their claim that Rittenhouse crossed state lines with an illigal weapon to go into conflict in Kenosha.

I also saw a lot of leftist supporters on this website claiming the exact same.
I wanted to get the article from another source, but it seems as if I cant get to the source. Perhaps it is due to the region I live in.

However, I see that Fox are making this claim, but everyone else is silent about this important fact.

All the leftist media anchors used this lie as a fact to get an inocent man convicted as a criminal even before he went to court.

I also see that Biden refuses to apologise to Rittenhouse.

Perhaps CBS realises that they will face dire consequences for their actions, just like CNN had to pay millions out to Niocloas Sandman for slandering him.

I stick to the middle/top of the news pyramid and wish others did also.

In that footage we see that after the shootings he went towards the police cars. He tried to open the car doors...but the police officers would not let him in.
So he did want to turn himself in immediately... still wearing the rifle.

There is indisputable photographic evidence of Kyle Rittenhouse flashing either a white power sign or a friendly O.K. gesture to known Proud Boy members. According to the Anti Defamation league, the Proud Boys have many racist or white supremacist members. Since Kyle Rittenhouse has associated himself with members belonging to a rightwing militia group consisting of many white supremacists, Kyle Rittenhouse is justifiably suspected of being racist. It is a little problematic now. Back in the day, current news was upto 24 hours old. Whilst time could be an issue, it wasn't 'real time'. And professional News services competed with each other...not also amateurs, streaming services, camera footage from bystanders, etc.

And here we part ways. Even a charitable viewing of Rupert Murdoch and his modus operandi would suggest that Fox (and Sky News here in Oz) work to very clear and structured messaging for the most part. Murdoch is no amateur, and he's not silly enough to try and control all messaging from his News services. But you better believe that certain messages are very carefully managed and delivered.

You can see it as 'evil' or you can see it as 'professional', or anything in between. But balanced truth? Yeah, nup.

Incidentally, I'm not defending some of those more progressive names you mentioned. It requires some care to find relatively evenhanded news. And even then, I find myself having to validate a lot these days.

Meh...by American...and probably your standards, I lean left I would think. At least in terms of social issues.

But I wouldn't rely on 'left biased' news, apart from as a conversation starter to prompt me to research an issue. I'm even more of a mind to treat Sky News that way because their key commentators have long histories of presenting information in a skewed fashion, but maintaining enough plausible deniability to protect themselves (in the eyes of their audience). Their messaging is much more coherent and controlled than left sources, I find. But whatever...I'd prefer to rely on sources like The Conversation, Michael West Media, SBS, The Hill, The Australian...

Do these sources have biases? Yup. All sources do. But they're generally good quality, and cover a range of interest areas pretty well.

Of course, I watch lower quality news and entertainment programs, mostly for the entertainment value. And, again, these can be great prompts to get me interested in an issue, and doing some research. I just don't rely on those sources for 'The Truth'.

I do see some weird intersection of the court case, and general assessment of his character (in grandly positive or negative terms). I don't mean by you, specifically. Just in many of these conversations.

They're separate issues. His guilt, or not is completely divorced from his general character in a legal sense (unless it was directly tied to why he was there...for example as part of an organised and violent counter protest).

He can be a flog of a bloke, but not guilty of murder. And Wisconsin law has its own idiosyncrasies which factor in.

Still strikes me as bizarre that it seems law enforcement officials and/or local business owners thought a 17 year old with a gun might be useful rather than problematic in this situation.

Same dude can neither gamble, nor order a beer, nor vote.

- bought his gun legally, and
- was keeping it under proper control, ensuring its proper safe storage, etc.

Instead, we've found out that Rittenhouse:

- bought the gun using his friend as a "straw purchaser",
- did this because he was too young to buy the gun legally in the state where he bought it, and
- left his gun with a buddy (the straw purchaser) rather than keep it under his own control.
