Why I think out of body experiences don't prove our spirits survive the death of our bodies.

Going out of body isn't like dyeing 100%.And if you have a near death experience. You ALMOST die.

And even if you do die a clinical death. You still comeback to life.So that means the person in question didn't stay dead.

Just food for thought.:)

I fully agree. NDEs are just that: near death experiences. They aren't dead, and out of body experiences are like those, not a complete separation (even if it seems like it). They are an interesting sphere of experience though, and having one can be pretty trippy to have your "center of consciousness" move around.

If the spirit can't get back in to the body during an OBE you may end up dead, or if a demon blocking your way back in, you would stay in OBE

Or?

Even Odin feared that Thought and Memory would not return to him. His ravens were named Thought, Huginn, and Memory, Muninn. And they left him daily to travel.

Often many do not think of the "negative" of some forms of spiritual practice, but only see the "fun" part of it, when everything go smoothly....that isn't always the reality in spiritual practice.

Yup. And I've been on both ends of that spectrum. Really great positive experiences, and certainly scary negative ones.

That I have too :) and OBE is one of those "oh crap" moments for me, something that has happened only last week to me, where I spontaneous gone out of my body and it was not on purpose and I did not want that experience.
To me it was not pleasantly in any ways, shape or form.
It scared the living crap out of me.

Still they can be fun. Of course sometimes it is the scary kind of fun.

Kind of a virtual reality where everything seems, feels real.
There was one time I had thought I had just awoken and saw a demon looking at me from the corner of the room. So I ran out of the room and down the hall afraid the demon was chasing me. I tried to grab the door knob but my hand was immaterial and I couldn't grasp the knob.
Suddenly I saw myself in bed looking up at the ceiling but I couldn't move. I was paralyzed. Then I saw myself back at the door trying to escape. This flipped back and forth several times and the two images started to superimpose. I felt myself at the door get pull back down the hall to my body on the bed. Then I was fully in my body on the bed but still couldn't move. I was struggling to reconnect to my body so I could move. First my eyes, then my head, my arms and finally I regained control over my body.
It seem to have the reality of being two places at once and the struggle to reconnect to my body.

Logically speaking, if you almost died you were no dead. Even when they say you were clinically dead you were not dead because - with all due respect to the Christian beliefs - dead people do not come back life.

Those who have had NDEs often report that they were given a choice to go to heaven or come back to life.

I believe that only those souls who are in the spiritual world are really dead so the only way we can ever know what the spiritual world (heaven or hell) is like is from communication between this world and the spiritual world conducted through mediums. Books have been written about this and two of my favorite books are as follows. The first book can be read online and the other book you have to purchase although you can read some of it on the Amazon website.

The Afterlife Revealed

I also like this book entitled Heaven and Hell but I don't believe everything in it is necessarily accurate because i do not believe we can know these kinds of details about the afterlife.

That does sound scary. Do you know what triggered the OBE? Overwhelming stress can do it for me.

How did you ground yourself again?

That's an awful sleep paralysis episode it sounds like.

Despite being scientifically verifiable, I still find that it has an otherworldly or supernatural qualia to it.

Did you ever experience anything that was "supernatural" in your practice of Druidry?

Not just within my practice of Druidry. But in my regular day to day life as well, yes.

Edit: But I think those discussions would further detail Franks thread. :)

Stress was a huge factor yes.
I can only remember a few things from it, and one thoughts i had was "this is not right, I want to go back" at that moment i was in my body again

At least you got back to your body so to speak. I spent several days in a row like that last year.

My thought is that an out of body experience is the astral/mental bodies separating from the physical body. This happens naturally at physical death trauma. A Near Death Experience is just the rarer case where after death-like trauma the physical body makes a rally and comes back to life sustaining conditions and the astral/mental bodies re-penetrate the physical.

The word 'proof' from a physical-only standpoint doesn't really apply. All we will see are things that cannot be adequately explained and understood from a physical-only perspective.
