Sgt. Pepper

All you need is love.

The first Beatles' song I ever heard was played during a music montage of the Monkees on the local Oldies station in the summer of 1986. The song was We Can Work It Out, and I was 13 years old at the time. Speaking of the Monkees, it's well known that they were hired to be the American version of the Beatles in a television show. The Beatles later threw a private party for them in 1967, and Paul invited Micky to sit in at the Sgt. Pepper's recording session. Micky wrote a song about partying with the Beatles called Randy Scouse Git: "The four kings of E.M.I. are sitting stately on the floor..." He says that he was told he had a good time when he talks about hanging out with the Beatles. The Beatles are definitely my most favorite band, but I really like The Monkees too.

November 19, 2000, the Fab Four started an eleven-week run at No. 1 on the UK album chart with The Beatles 1. The album is the first complication of Beatles' songs available on one CD. It was a best-selling album, with over 31 million copies sold.

They picked some really great covers in the early days. Those harmonies....

And John Lennon's voice on the middle eight here melts me like a teenage girl:

One of my favorite Beatles' songs. I thought I'd post my favorite cover of the song too. It's really good.

Congratulations to Sir Paul McCartney for his two Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album and ‘Find My Way’ for Best Rock Song. His book, The Lyrics, was named Barnes & Nobles 2021 Book of the Year. Macca is still going strong, and I'm very happy for him.
