Alec Baldwin Killed More People Than My Guns Have

I didn't say you want somebody to get shot, I said you don't mind. And I know that because you didn't provide a suggestion to handle the problem and you disagree with any suggested solution. You simply don't care. I'm not even a citizen of the US and I don't plan to visit (much too dangerous) but I try to find solutions, I look up statistics to inform people about the size of the problem and all you do is playing negative Nancy.
Lol, the United States is not " dangerous" unless you choose to go into a few select parts of certain cities. Here in the real world there's still way more good people than bad.
And here we almost all have guns but hardly any gun homicide.
Yes there's a few people that get shot every year that ask for it. I don't get upset when a criminal breaking in is shot or a criminal attacking someone is shot.

Again that's about personal responsibility. It's not my responsibility as a responsible gun owner if someone else miss uses a gun. That's got nothing to do with our right to bear arms which is guaranteed in our constitution.
More than half suicide deaths are by firearms: NIMH » Suicide

Since most suicide attempts are impulsive, having a firearm available increases the risk of it being successful quite a bit.

I have used a gun every fall and winter for at least 40 years. Let's see ... hunting, ( food) trapping, ( money), living real life.
Defense if necessary. I've seen a situation where I was glad I had one on when attacked by animal and potential attack by a person.
You could still use your gun for all of these uses if it were kept unloaded in a gun safe when not in use.

Sure. But when the dog wakes me in the middle of the night I can just grab my pistol and go shoot something if necessary so she will shut up. I looked at gun safes. Maybe if I hadn't lost all my guns in that boating accident I'd get one someday when I don't have bills to pay.

What do you think you're going to need a gun for?

If you're not keeping your guns secure, then you aren't a responsible gun owner.

That's fine... but I can not punch out a bullet.

Nor can you shoot one out of the air. Expecting that the gun is going to be a magic shield without preparing for the reality of a home invasion is going to be less effective than someone without a gun, but has drilled.

Scenario...

Im in bed, someone kicks in my front or back door doing a home invasion, I grab my pistol thats by my bed,, I can protect my bedroom from anyone coming in.

You're in bed, someone kicks in your front or back door doing a home invasion, you are drilled... How do you protect your bedroom from anyone coming in?

Shut my bedroom door, hit my car alarm to alert my neighbors, climb out my window, call 911.

Edit: I should note I keep my car key fob next to my bed for that reason.

The dog will warn me long before they get in the house.
You know I had a friend who had an attempted break in into his basement. His son set on the steps and pumped a 12 gauge. They didn't stick around. Once someone knows you are armed they usually try to find an easier target to hit.

And if they cased the place, they know what window your bedroom is.

If they cased the place, they likely tripped one of my cameras. Regardless, they don't likely know the woods like I do.

Another scenario. My 5 year old neice wanders into my bedroom and finds the gun I keep stashed there in case a couple of guys have cased my house and one is able to kick my door in.
