Conscious thoughts struggle to find a reason.

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
The struggle has to do with not seeing a reason for discussion and debate anymore.
There is no reason any more to think " "my" view is better or more correct" or " "my" spiritual belief is better or more correct than others" it does not matter.

The only thing that matter is to be good to other beings.
Leave others to believe and follow what is right for them, it doesn't bother @Conscious thoughts anymore what others believe or what they think of him.

Life is not about being right or better than others.

PS: do not discuss or debate this OP. ( you are free to have your views and believe)

To be caused to question our own presumptions is a gift. To be challenged to articulate them in a way that others can better understand promotes clarity of thought for ourselves and others.

There is no need to presume these engagements are a 'contest' that we are trying to 'win'. I know some people do think this, but you don't have to reciprocate. And being "nice to people" is a relative ideal. There are times when the "nicest" thing you can do for someone is call them out.

To "call someone out" as in saying"you are wrong" is in it self a wrong action, but to ask politely"are you sure about that?" Is the nice way to be none confronting to others. And let that person reply is a good thing to do.

Why do you see it as wrong to be honest with someone?
... but to ask politely "are you sure about that?" Is the nice way to be none confronting to others.
Why is not confronting others so important to you? Seems to me a lot of people need to be confronted, to learn. Including myself, on occasion.

There is no need for confrontation, it only create negativity. Confrontation means the self telling others "I know better than you" and it is not so.

Hope you find your answers as I have. I got the answers by heavily pruning what I once believed.
The faith is not the problem:) it is the issue of not seeing something in the back and forth between people with different beliefs or between believer and non-believers.
The issue of telling someone "you are wrong" is a false path to walk on, and of no interest.

I just want to ask why do you believe you're discussing your view is imposing on others?

I never got that impression.

Unless you're participating in forums that outright put religions down, my observation is you're putting more stock in what others think. From my experience people knocking faiths are minority.

Don't let others define your character.

Because others beliefs hold just as much value to them as a the belief held by a sufi do to the sufi.

Maybe it's indeed lights out and game over for everybody after ionic currents stop flowing across their brains' neurons, but who among us know for sure their characters won't be reanimated or re-simulated by God?

A study conducted by Henry Markram and his team at the Blue Brain project have successfully simulated elements of a rat’s neocortical column, a complex layer of brain tissue common to all mammalian species. " Henry Markram at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and his team built their model based on experimental measurements of rat brain slices. The simulation represents roughly 37 million synapses, or neuronal connections, in the brain region that receives sensory information from the whiskers and other parts of the body. Using the model, the team simulated rat whisker movement and saw similar neuronal responses to those observed in rat experiments."

Computer model of rat-brain part - Nature.

I realize a computer simulation of a rat's neocortical column is nowhere near the complexity of a computer simulation of an entire living human brain, but this does demonstrate at least a bit of progress so far being made towards an entire human brain's consciousness being simulated by a computer.

Perhaps when scientists have figured out how to read the actual results of a consciousness simulation, then the simulation hypothesis will become a widely accepted theory.

Until then, I suppose the simulation hypothesis will mostly have its doubters. Simulated Suave lets out a big sigh!

I concur with Nick Bostrom's reasoning why we are very likely living in a simulated reality.

Bostrom argues that at least ONE of the following propositions must be true:

(1) The human species is very likely to go extinct before reaching a “posthuman” stage.

(2) Any posthuman civilization is extremely unlikely to run a significant number of simulations of their evolutionary history (or variations thereof).

(3) We are almost certainly living in a computer simulation.

Since there is a significant chance that a future generation of technologically advanced post-humans will run ancestor-simulations by powerful computers, then we are almost certainly living in a computer simulation.

Indications we might be living in a simulated reality:

1. A particle passing through a double-slit behaves as a wave causing an interference pattern when unobserved, but this same particle doesn't create an interference pattern when its path of travel can be determined by an observer. This collapse of the wave-function could be happening in order to save computational resources necessary for our simulated reality.

2. This mark of intelligence left in our genetic coding might be indicative of an intelligent designer, who may be responsible for the simulation of our reality. Our genetic code's creator has left this mathematical pattern in our genetic code conveying to me the symbol of an Egyptian triangle as well as the number 37 embedded in our genetic code.
Eight of the canonical amino acids can be sufficiently defined by the composition of their codon's first and second base nucleotides. The nucleon sum of these amino acids' side chains is 333 (=37 * 3 squared), the sun of their block nucleons (basic core structure) is 592 (=37 * 4 squared), and the sum of their total nucleons is 925 (=37 * 5 squared ). With 37 factored out, this results in 3 squared + 4 squared + 5 squared, which is representative of an Egyptian triangle.
I would not expect there to be a mathematical depiction of an Egyptian triangle stored within genetic coding if it were a naturally occurring phenomenon. The mathematical pattern of the number 37 being used as a key factor for conveying an Egyptian triangle might related to the gematria value of 37 appearing in the Hebrew language of Genesis 1:1.

3. Theoretical physicist Dr. S. James Gates Jr. claims that a certain string theory, super-symmetrical equations describing the nature and reality of our universe, contains embedded computer codes; these codes have digital data in the form of 0's and 1's identical to what makes web browsers function, and they're error-correct codes.

In conclusion, with the wave-function collapsing in order to conserve computational power of a simulator device, a semantic message in genetic coding, and the computer coding found buried deep within the mathematical equations of super symmetry., seems to me like we are living in a simulation.

Because others beliefs hold just as much value to them as a the belief held by a sufi do to the sufi.

However, my question was how does discussing your belief impose on others?

Unless you're participating in other forums that outrightly put down people's belief, maybe you're putting more stock into what people say.

I'm not sure how your reply connects, though.

In discussion if one person hold one view/belief no matter how it is put forth it will affect others positively or negatively. It create sometimes unwanted questions, and it can lead to frustration, that is not wanted.

I hear you. It has reached a point where my religion doesn't matter to me anymore. Maybe it once did but not anymore. That is what this forum has done to me. I am tired of arguing. I don't mind a respectful discussion but I hate debating, I just hate it. The constant haranguing of certain atheists -- I am right and you are wrong! Enough is enough!

I am sorry I have to call out atheists but they are the ones who always think they are right and I am wrong. I never tell them they are wrong. I do not care who is right and who is wrong but when they start telling me whey I am thinking and what my intentions are that is crossing the line and I won't tolerate it. I am not making any claims just because I talk about my beliefs and I do have evidence that support my beliefs, atheists just don't LIKE that evidence. That is not my problem. If they don't like my evidence why are they still posting to me about my beliefs?

Maybe they still posting because they want to make you frustrated, they know you will reply and go in to any battle with them.
Better to not say anything and leave them thinking what they do.

I have started to do that. Once something has been said, it's been said. Why go over it again and again? If they want the last word they can have it, It is pure unadulterated ego to have to be right, especially when it is about another person and what they are thinking and doing. It is so arrogant and they can't even see it. Baha'u'llah had something to say about this.

26: O SON OF BEING! How couldst thou forget thine own faults and busy thyself with the faults of others? Whoso doeth this is accursed of Me. The Hidden Words of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 10

66: O EMIGRANTS! The tongue I have designed for the mention of Me, defile it not with detraction. If the fire of self overcome you, remember your own faults and not the faults of My creatures, inasmuch as every one of you knoweth his own self better than he knoweth others. The Hidden Words of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 45

What's discussion mean to you, @Conscious thoughts ?

I don't like debating, either. It usually goes into a "I'm right, you're wrong" pattern, and I don't find that appealing.

I like discussion, though. Its how acquaintances and friends learn about each other. It isn't attempts to prove each other right or wrong, but decision to enjoy each other's company.

Discussion is to speak about a topic and share ideas, not the back and forth of...but that is wrong, it can not be like that....or it goes against "MY" belief, so you must be wrong.
Discussion is to learn from others without having to be right or wrong.
