What if we began to keep track and to hold religious leaders to account for things they said? Currently they are not held to account by any formal system. They can make promises then break them and it be forgotten. They can slander without anyone noticing. I think that should change.
What would you think of starting a non-profit organization which, on a weekly basis, reports any:
malicious speech
promises
broken promises
compulsion or pushy behavior and cult like behavior
slander of other religious gatherings
slander of people
disorder
unusual events
The volunteers would attend as many religious functions as possible, recording and reporting on any promises, malice, slander, etc. This would then be notarized and stored in a database, retrievable later. Ideally these would also be digitally signed in case they were needed for proof of speech.
Would this, in your opinion, improve religion?
