I have now finished my website

I've been very busy working on it for the past few days

However, I would be interested to hear feedback as to how it might be improved

So, basically, I'm asking you what you think of it :D

I'm not after a debate as to the claims it makes

It is what it is

I just want to hear what people think of it as a website so I may alter it if there is a major problem that I haven't noticed

And if you think it's OK I'd also like to hear from you

I checked it out recently, pre-slimming. I think it looks excellent.

I am using a phone with Android and Chrome browser. On opening in portrait snd clicking menu the thing i noticed was the menu items being too close to each other to accurately tap one item.

Turning the phone to landscape and the menu button disapears completely.

Other than that the layout of the index page looks ok. Good sized text. Clear paragraph division.

I am currently preparing dinner so I didn't look further. I will tru later on a couple of other browsers on a different device.

I would suggest not making it live until tested in the various common browsers and screen fornats of different devices

Thanks for looking at it :)

On Wordpress it gives previews of how it looks on mobile devices and it says on that it works OK, but obviously not, I don't think there is much that can be done about that :(

Basically, you are correct. The issue is, I think, simply of size of screen, specifically phone vs tablet/PC. Your "single size" blog is optimised for the latter, not the former. Whizzy websites may show cut-down versions on phones ("go to full webpage") and/or have apps - optimised for phones. With your "simple" and free (!) blog you can't really do much about it.
A while ago I got an email (my blog is built with blogger) advising me my blog was not optimised for mobiles (and that this is the main and growing means of accessing the internet) so I should address this. And indeed if you look at my blog on a phone it mostly consists of unreadable text. If I "optimised" it for phone legibility the whole point of the blog would be lost (and it would look moronic on a full tablet/pc screen). It's like suggesting Beethoven's symphonies need to be cut down to ring tones. The only minor tweaking I did, as a result of the email, was doing a bit of header trimming, bolding some text etc...just to make it a bit more phone friendly in appearance, but the bottom line is a blog essentially created for text is not going to fare well on a small screen.

You have a blog?

Could you post a link to it?

I'd be interested in what you have to say

I've used Blogger in the past - I think Blogger is better in some ways, and Wordpress better in others

I have now tried it on another device, a 7inch tablet using chrome, edge and duck duck go. The site looks ok on all however, in this device, like the landscape view on my phone there is no menu button so no way yo navigate.

That's annoying!

Thanks for letting me know!

Cool, now everyone should be able to read the content

Many thanks for your help

I know it's a bind but that bit of code linking to the directory could do with putting on all pages rather than having to hit the back button.

Not necessary but a convenience for your visitors
