Democrats Expect The Media To "Carry Their Water"

Seems that Speaker Pelosi excpect the news media to do a better job of selling the $3.5 Trillion social spending plan.
Hmm I thought the news media was to report the news not be the spokepersons for the Democratic Party.
However, we all know that they are.
Pelosi Scolds Reporters, Says They Should ‘Do a Better Job Selling’ Massive Reconciliation Package
“Well I think you all could do a better job of selling it, to be very frank with you, because every time I come here I go through the list: medical leave, climate, the issues that are in there,” Pelosi said.

And just for the heck of it, here is a link I'm sure will get some negative feedback

She'd do better to look in the metaphorical mirror around a single, coherent and unified message.

But I wouldn't suggest a strange expectation of media behaviour is a democrat-issue.

This is one of those rare instances when I can honestly see "both sides". One one hand, Pelosi and the Democrat leadership absolutely, definitely needs to do a better job of messaging about the infrastructure and Build Back Better bills and what's in them. A recent survey showed that the majority of Americans have no idea what's in them, and the Democrats need to take responsibility for that.

On the other hand, I can appreciate Pelosi's frustration with the media. It has to be infuriating to tell the media that those bills are about medical leave, health care, climate change, etc., then see article after article that only focuses on the internal debates within the Dem Party while ignoring the contents of the bills, followed by the same reporters asking Pelosi yet again..."What's in the bills?"

But Dems being relatively poor at messaging and failing to toot their own horns isn't anything new. The same criticisms were leveled at Obama et al. for not touting the benefits of the Recovery Act for example.

As if the presstitute cheerleaders at CNN,MSNBC, Washington Post Etc. haven't been carrying the DNC's urine buckets for years, I guess Pelosi demands complete obedience now, like a tyrant.

Yawn.

Not a word when Trump tore into the right wing media for not echoing his words 100%. But oh my Democrats are not allowed to do what WE can do because we're always right and never wrong.

I agree, it's kind of daft to expect capitalist media to react positively to something when they aren't being paid to do so.

FOX is exceptional at propaganda. And that propaganda gets reported by all media, especially because much of the right wing rhetoric is so extreme and absurd. So the right wing messages end up getting more exposure.

But I suppose the Democrats should get into propaganda as well, and be creative and flamboyant about what the bills they are working on will help the average citizen. The average citizens will get huge benefits and it won't cost them a dime. They may actually get tax cuts if Democrats have their way. Republicans oppose this.....why?

Right, the outrage sells. Republicans are excellent at creating outrage for themselves by making absurd claims, and then all the media covers the train wreck. There is coverage of the mundane sausage making of policy but it pales to coverage of the republican caused train wreck. The civic responsibility of all voters should require being informed about polices and the goals it aims to do. But it is boring, and the drama of the train wreck coverage draws more attention. Republicans are just better at creating drama than they are at governing, or at bringing sound and productive policy.

As @Jose Fly points out, yes it must be very frustrating when all the MSM talks about is the rightwing DINOs Manchin and Sinema, and the price tag, without discussing the counterpoints of getting the uber-rich to pay even a little tax money for once, or the vast improvements that have been laid out in detail for the press to discuss at their leisure. As always, the MSM take all their leads from the right-wing propaganda outlets.
