I surmised Biden ignored his Chiefs of Staff. Apparently I was correct in my assessment. .

Biden has wanted to get us out for years. Even trump was going to pull us out if he was re-elected. The generals wanted to stay, but that isn't their decision to make. Afghanistan was going to fail regardless. Leaving troops would have been a diplomatic problem, and led to more targeting of troops.

We are out. We have our own problems to deal with. Conservatives love their bashing of democrats and avoid talking about how little republicans are helping solve our serious problems. These distractions accomplish nothing except that you're desperate to distract.

Don't blame Trump or anyone else for this disaster.

That's a shame, 'cause it's one of the few things I might have supported Trump on... Go Trump! :D

Here's a clip from the state of the Union:

And here's a Tweet (as the video isn't showing up):

That great, wise trump decision would have gone smoothly if done. Or he was just bashing Obama, because that's what conservatives do.

Distract?

RoFLMAO!!!!!

It's hard anybody not to distract from this royal cluster****.

Ask the ignoramus ** know better than my generals** dummy in chief that attracted this 'distraction' of the decade, if not this century.

No, you are channeling Trump again. He was the one who said he knew better than the generals.

As is common among right wing lies and propaganda, only select cherry-picked bits of data are in your 0P.
Biden had many military advisers….some who told him to increase the military presence in Afghanistan, while some told him to pull out completely and most of the others who said it was somewhere in between. Also most of them said that the Afghanistan army would stand up to the Taliban. Others predicted that they would fall after several months of fighting; and only a rare few said that they would surrender quickly.
Only after gathering all of this data from many many military advisers, did Biden decide to fully withdraw and allow the Afghan army to hold off the Taliban.
Additionally Americans and supporters of America in Afghanistan were given 8 months of warning to “Get Out!” since January 2021. Most ignored the warnings, and didn’t think that Biden would keep his word, until we were only a month or two away. Then there was a panicky rush. :( Additionally the Afghan army surrendered without firing a shot effectively. :(
Of course the right wing propaganda bots only report that  “military advisers told Biden that he should keep troops in the country and that the Afghan army would collapse quickly”!1!1!!1.:eek:

What a steaming load of cherry-picked ****.

You've only been here a month so I'm glad to see you're catching on fast. Whatever side you are fighting on, the BS seems to win whatever happens. It's horribly depressing but the show must go on! :D

Top generals contradict Biden, say they advised leaving 2,500 troops in Afghanistan

Don't blame Trump or anyone else for this disaster.

It was Biden and his puppeteers alone that were responsible.

I'm glad all U.S. troops are out of Afghanistan and out of harm's way. I'm hopeful the Taliban will use the sales proceeds of captured U.S. military equipment in order to buy food and medicine for their war ravaged women and children. Also, I'd like humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in exchange for the safe return of dozens of Americans to the U.S. from Afghanistan.

You may blame me. I posted repeatedly that I wanted our troops out of there, and I appreciate Biden pulling them out.

Both Biden and Trump rather clearly stated that they wanted us out even before the election, and it was the latter what wanted us out sooner.

IMO, the biggest mistake was to try and occupy another country like we did in Vietnam, and we all know how that ended up.

Like the old folksong goes: "When will we ever learn; when will we ever learn".

A paltry 2500 troops against the entire nation of Afghanistan
run by the Taliban. Oh, that would've turned our real well.
They'd suffer deaths & injuries...we'd be incensed...we'd
retaliate....then there'd be an Obama style "surge", & we'd
be back at war.
So you don't think a senior combat experienced general is qualified to determine the numbers involving troop retention required for a stable pullout?

It Aint Necessarily So

As Joe explained, there was no way out of Afghanistan without catastrophe, like violence to Americans and their allies, and an oppressive Taliban regime sending Afghanistan back into a dark age if the legitimate Afghani government and its military fell.

I congratulate President Biden for making judicious command decisions. It's nice to have a man of intelligence and character at the helm again. Only Satan knows what Trump would have done in Afghanistan had he held the White House. All we can be sure of is that it would be cruel.

Generals consider military issues. Of course leaving 2500 troops behind provides greater security for as long as they're there. 5000 even more. But presidents have to consider more. The goal was to get out, not leave troops behind. Joe did that. Mission accomplished!

Sometimes, I want to just get down on my knees and thank God for president Biden. Then I remember that I'm an atheist and the floor is tile.

He's certainly qualified, but this doesn't mean that he's
right. Generals think strategically, but a President must
consider a larger picture & all potential risks, eg, that
the situation could escalate into war again.

I wonder what the Russians will do in ten years or so......
