God: more questions than answers

Basically: WHO OR WHAT IS HE????
I'll give you an example.

We have the sea.

Poseidon pre-exists the sea.

With no Poseidon, there is no sea.

We have the thunder.

The thunder is different than the sea.

So we need a thunder god, that is not Poseidon.

So we have Zeus.

Zeus and Poseidon are equal, this means no god is better or worse than the other.

Praise Jah

Psalm 83:18
I've been trying to de-familiarise myself with God - to put aside my old assumptions and beliefs about him and look at him with new eyes:

To approach him as though I have never heard of him

This has lead to more questions than answers!

I am hoping to construct a fresh understanding of God from the ground up, as though I've never heard of him

So please, answer my questions...

I'm sure more people than just me would benefit from your answers :D

Here are my questions, which all assume he exists:

Who - or what - exactly is he? What type of thing is he?

Is he even a "he" - is he a person or something else?

What does he do?

What does he look like?

What does he want?

Does he care about us?

Does he have a mind?

Does he have a personality - and if so what is he like?

What has he ever done for us?

Who am I in relation to God?

Who are you in relation to God?

What does he do?

What does he want us to do?

Does he have a plan?

Where does he come from?

Does he favour some people over others? Or some groups over other groups?

What is he going to do in the future?

Is it possible to have a relationship with him?
Who - or what - exactly is he? What type of thing is he?

*Jehovah is the true God of the Bible, the Almighty, the Creator of all things. (Revelation 4:11)

*Jehovah is God’s unique name as revealed in the Bible. (Exodus 3:15; Psalms 83:18)

*God is a Spirit. (John 4:24)

Is he even a "he" - is he a person or something else?

*God is a Person and he also has a personality with likes and dislikes—even feelings. The Bible tells us that he loves his people, rejoices in his works, hates idolatry, and feels hurt over wickedness. At 1 Timothy 1:11, he is called “the happy God.” (Genesis 6:6; Deuteronomy 16:22; 1 Kings 10:9; Psalms 104:31)

The Bible tells us: “If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual one.” (1 Corinthians 15:44) Jehovah has a spiritual body and he is a Person.

What does he do?

*Good and upright is Jehovah. That is why he instructs sinners in the way to live. (Psalms 25:8)

*I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go. I will give you advice with my eye upon you. (Psalms 32:8)

*He is the Creator and the source of life. (Revelation 4:11)

What does he look like?

*God is a Spirit, unseen by human eyes. (John 4:24)

*Our Creator is so superior to us that we cannot even begin to imagine what he looks like. (Isaiah 40:18)

What does he want?

*Jehovah's will is that all sorts of people be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth. (1 Timothy 2:4)

Does he care about us?

*Two sparrows sell for a coin of small value, do they not? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So have no fear; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31)

*We love, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

Does he have a mind?

*O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are and beyond tracing out his ways are! For who has come to know Jehovah’s mind, or who has become his adviser? (Romans 11:33-34)

*For my thoughts are not your thoughts, And your ways are not my ways,” declares Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8‐9)

Does he have a personality - and if so what is he like?

*But you, O Jehovah, are a God merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness. (Psalms 86:15)

What has he ever done for us?

*The God who made the world and all the things in it . . . gives to all people life and breath and all things. . . . By him we have life and move and exist.” (Acts 17:24‐28) Out of love Jehovah provides “all things” necessary for us to sustain our life.

*For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Who am I in relation to God?

Only you can answer that question and God, who can read hearts, knows the truthfulness of your answer, but hopefully you see yourself as soft clay in God’s hands, willing to be molded into a vessel that is desirable in his eyes.

Who are you in relation to God?

*O Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our Potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

What does he do?

*Jehovah is the source of life. (Psalms 36:9) (Revelation 4:11)

*He is looking throughout all the earth for people to worship him and patiently giving mankind the opportunity to repent so that they can be saved. (2 Chronicles 16:9) (John 4:23)

What does he want us to do?

*God’s will is that we come to know him as a Person, draw close to him, and then love and serve him with our whole heart. (Matthew 22:37-38; James 4:8) We can learn how to do God’s will from the life and teachings of Jesus. (John 7:16-17)

Does he have a plan?

*God's Kingdom, a real government located in heaven, will soon accomplish God's will here on earth. Some of the blessings mankind will enjoy will be peace on earth, everlasting life and a permanent end to all suffering. (Isaiah 33:24) (Revelation 21:3‐4)

Where does he come from?

*Jehovah has always existed. He has no beginning and he has no end. He is the King of eternity. (1 Timothy 1:17) (Psalms 90:2)

Does he favour some people over others? Or some groups over other groups?

*God is not partial, but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. (Acts 10:34‐35)

*Jehovah is near to all those calling on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalms 145:18)

*Jehovah is close to those who show their love for him by doing their best to obey his commandments. “This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments.” (1 John 5:3)

What is he going to do in the future?

*God has a purpose for mankind and the earth. The Bible says: The wicked will be permanently removed and the righteous themselves will possess the earth. The earth will become a peaceful paradise and the righteous will reside forever upon it. (Psalms 37:9‐11; Psalms 37:29) (Matthew 5:5) (Revelation 21:3‐4)

Is it possible to have a relationship with him?

*Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. (James 4:8)

*The Creator’s purpose for humans is “for them to seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us.” (Acts 17:27)

*The Bible says that we need to come to know him in order to gain everlasting life. (John 17:3)

*I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the One saying to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you. (Isaiah 41:13)

Our genetic code's creator has left this mathematical pattern in our genetic code conveying to me the symbol of an Egyptian triangle as well as the number 37 embedded in our genetic code.

Eight of the canonical amino acids can be sufficiently defined by the composition of their codon's first and second base nucleotides. The nucleon sum of these amino acids' side chains is 333 (=37 * 3 squared), the sun of their block nucleons (basic core structure) is 592 (=37 * 4 squared), and the sum of their total nucleons is 925 (=37 * 5 squared ). With 37 factored out, this results in 3 squared + 4 squared + 5 squared, which is representative of an Egyptian triangle. Based on this signal of intelligence left in our genetic code, I suspect our genetic coding was created by a greater intelligence beyond the limited scope of us humans on Earth.

The 3 main words (God, the heaven, the earth) in Hebrew have a gematria numeric value of 777 (111x7), ". which is divisible by 37.

The numeric value of the entire verse is 2701 which is divisible by 37.

We may now proceed to finding the number 37 interlaced in the first verse of the Bible. We can do this by discovering words or groups of words with number values evenly divisible by 37, e.g. the 3 main words (“God” + ”the heaven” + ”the earth” = 777 = 21x37), the 5 first words (“In the beginning” + “created” + “God” + “*” + “the heaven” = 1998 = 54x37), or the last two words separately (“and” = 407 = 11x37 and “the earth” = 296 = 8x37)

It is always best to assume that we as finite beings cannot fathom the infinite. I think it is wonderful that you are trying to look at God fresh.

I don't think we can say that much about God. We know that he has no body or form, so he doesn't "look like" anything at all. Most of our descriptions of his feelings and thoughts are similar anthropomorphisms. So what CAN we say about God? I;m going to go out on a limb here and say taht God cares about how we treat each other. He wants us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

As a Jew, I believe that God has a unique arrangement with the Jewish people. What we call a covenant, that is for us to keep and not for others. It doesn't mean we are better people than anyone else or that God lvoes us and doesn't care about other peoples. It simply means that God has given us a unique job, that of the priests of the world. It is our job to spread ethical monotheism to the world. As a priestly people, it means we have a ton of obligations that others don't have. For example, you can eat bacon to your heart's content and its fine, but for me as a Jew to eat bacon it would be a sin. You can choose to become a Jew, to be adopted into the People, if you so wish. But there is no reason for you to do so. Non-Jews are fine.

But Jesus was quite literally a man, not a woman.
So, there is this gay (and incestuous) couple creating everything but many Christians are against gay marriage. Fits:

"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.” ― Douglas Adams

I'm not sure what that had to do with the fact that Jesus was literally a man and not a woman.

Back in the human past the technology practiced belonged to machines.

Not God.
Not natural humans either.

Some humans today quote I think we are part machine. Also quote hence bio life Phi is a resource connection. I must find radiation fall out crop connection to a human.

And meant what they said.

Scientists. Not natural minds.

Phi fallout had been stopped. Phi once never existed is the first human rationale.

Scientists studying old science causes tried to claim life began as Phi.

Life began as a human only.

Today claim ape DNA is in our human baby life genetics.

Like they always have lied.

Human DNA is our human baby parent.

No he says the beast is in you.

What brother satanist?

Change he said came from the east.

What change brother? B he said earths God cloak of father changed ABBA. Alpha state removed radiation causes.

Science was practiced in the east.

It blew up. Science temples melted pyramids toppled casement blew off. Ground flooded cooled science buildings. Sphinx pyramid proved it had.

Radiation fallout blew out over the continent known cause.

God science is a human practice on earth.

How we know science lies.

Baby Jesus he said was the saviour by two conditions in human baby DNA life. A reasoned status that humans never owned. We live in holy water.

Asteroid saviour wandering star had put back cold stone gas as Christ. In heavens over a long timed count appraisal. And ice end of year accumulation had cooled earths heavenly spirit.

Kept life from unstable radiation fallout as stable state. Exactly the correct earth life on planet God teachings against satanic cosmic nothing theists.

Always just human. Who still today quotes the exact same cosmic theory when nothing at all existed as a scientific human theorising.

Science plan. Take God and cause Et effect from planets body. Science only. I know I did it explanation human designer of machine causes.

I think the more we get answers the more questions come up! :)

Can't deal with all of them at once ....

"Does he favour some people over others? Or some groups over other groups?"

I don't believe so. Different groups may have different responsibilities but, as a body, all parts are necessary.

I think Peter answered that question when he said, "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:" Acts 10.

"Who am I in relation to God?
Who are you in relation to God?"

I think that is a personal decision and even then, how much "relation" one wants. :)

If someone gives their life to God through Jesus Christ, I am His child and I receive a billion brothers and sisters, and He become "Our Father".

We can be babies, young people, mature people and even carnal people. Our closeness of relationship depends on how close we want to be. We can be distant or face to face :)

"Does he care about us?
What has he ever done for us?"

He sure does, IMV. He took the bullet (so to speak) for us. He cared so much and wanted so much for us to be part of His family, that He gave us His unique son who then took our iniquities, our transgressions, our lack of peace and all the consequences thereof such as sickness and disease and the paid for it so that we could have our rap sheet expunged.

I think I will start there.

What does he want?

1) He wants us to be with Him forever - a relationship
2) He wants us to be part of the bigger picture of bringing God's will on the earth
3) To make an Eden... as God wanted it to be.
4) In the interim, to heal the sick and proclaim that the Kingdom of God has come. :)

You didn't read the OP, did you? @Eddi wanted to de-familiarise himself from god so he can discover it with an open, unbiased mind. One step in that process is to try to not attribute a gender to it. You know the process is complete when you call god "it" without fail and without thinking that something sounds wrong.
And when you go on and discover god and find dangling parts between its legs, you can call it "him" with justification.
First of all, you need to use capitals when you refer to God, and two, you need to refer to Him, as Him.
The OP, out of a devout sentiment, is attempting to re-familiarize himself with God, ...because he already has a reverence for Him, and not because he's unsure if it's worth the effort or not.
Therefore, certain predicates must be pre-established in order to justify the worthiness of the endeavour. God is holy, transcendent, omnipotent, and prefers to be referred to as 'He'. The OP is merely trying to remove any biases or indoctrination that are outside the Bible, that he may have received in the early stages of his faith.

God transcends gender. We refer to him as a him only out of convenience -- in Hebrew you only had two pronouns to choose from and one had to be chosen. But the tradition of referring to God as our Father doesn't make him actually a male being.

But Jesus was quite literally a man, not a woman.
Jesus wasn't the Second person of the Paradise Trinity, he's a creation of the Trinity. The Universal Father delegates creatives powers and authority to subordinate Deities who in turn work with their counterparts in the creation of their respective domains.

"God" is the great mystery source, sustenance, and purpose of all that it.

As mere humans, we don't have the capacity to grasp or comprehend such an 'entity', which is why God remains a mystery to us. And why we tend to invent concepts and images of God that look like reflections of ourselves.

For myself, I prefer to let the mystery be a mystery. I don't need to pretend that I 'understand God'. I just need to trust in it's benevolence, and celebrate it in life whenever I experience it. Because if I don't, I tend to focus only on the negative and my life becomes an endless litany of over-exaggerated disappointment.

Who - or what - exactly is he? What type of thing is he?

Is he even a "he" - is he a person or something else?

That is a deep question. He is a Spirit. But then again, what is a spirit? We can only conceptualize it.

If I can use water as an example... if it is ice, you hold it in your hands. If it is water, you can't hold it or at the most you can only cup your hands and hold it until it leaves. As a vapor, even the air that we breathe can have water in it but you can't see it... but it is still there and has substance.

Our spirit, is still in us and looks like us even if we can't see it or touch it. Yet, even the spirit angels can take form to where we can see them and touch them.

Is God genderless? Who knows for sure? But how does He express Himself?

He is "Our Father".

What is He like? Many people speak of "Anthropomorphism" as a four letter word concerning God. But are we really doing that? When we ask a child to draw a picture of their family, we can interpret what is going on in that child's mind by how and what they draw in that picture.

We are a reflection of the image of God. Indeed, we are basically His drawing so that we can know who He is and what He is like. If we can look at our attributes, we can know what is He like. Psychologically, we can know when a person is behaving unnaturally, when he/she is not expressing themselves as who they really are. So, eliminating the aberrations of normalcy we can know this of Our Father!

He is the epitome of love. He cares for His children. He wants to be part of our lives. He is interested in our well-being. He is just but He is also merciful. He loves family. He loves us being involved in His business and He even delegates authority for us to do His business.

If we want to know a physical expression of who He is, we can look at Jesus. Jesus was a male so it is possible that He is male in nature but it doesn't exclude all the attributes of female because He took the essence of female out of a male being.

In the end... more questions than answers. :) IMO _ IMV

Have a great journey of discovery
