Biden's Approval Rating Plunges In Latest Iowa Poll

I suspect it is more about who is perceived capable of keeping the party in power at the time of the election than who would be best for the country.

A study on the phycological whims of the American voter would be fascinating.

And also about brand loyalty.

And also about brand loyalty.

Sure, I can relate to that. The familiarity aspect.
I tend to purchase Dodge cars even though probably not the best brand. However I'm familiar with the setup.

Seems these days folks are most comfortable with old White men running things.

Words of wisdom from my mom as I headed off to college: “Never underestimate the stupidity of the American voting public.”
Man, ‘88, 2000, ‘04, and ‘16 sure proved her correct.
On the optimistic side, no Republican President has come into the White House with the popular vote in the last 33 years. There is still hope.

A poll from a Red state that didn't go for Biden anyways and Dems are supposed to be worried?
Is this like that concern about Biden's health because he rides a bike to do that exercise thing?

Well...

Depending how the question was framed, I would have given a negative response for Biden pre-election.
I would have voted for him anyway, since I had MORE negative thoughts for Trump, and some of the Republican leadership.

Here, we commonly combine results from these sort of polls with a 'two-party preferred' rating.

Basically, if forced to vote Republican or Democrat, which are you voting for.
It can help clarify situations where both sides are seen as bad (or good, but that seems unlikely...)

Does such a thing occur in the USA?

My other question...which is a question from ignorance...is how polls account for whether people will vote at all.
We have mandatory voting here, which lessens the impact of non-mobilised voting bases.

Let's note that Biden isn't the whole government. Our military has been making quite a few mistakes, and I wonder what is going on. They blew the Afghanistan intelligence, and now this.

Biden has had a huge list of things happen, I can't see any other person doing any better. There have been screw ups, but I think most of the bad things happening are outside of our control. Can't control the weather. Can't control the Afghan army. Can't control citizens not getting vaccinated. Can't control a bunch of people from Haiti trying to get into the USA because there were two natural disasters that Biden couldn't control.

Who could do better with all these unknowns happening?

Probably because the people that voted for him, didn't really like him all that much. But it was loads better then the alternative.
Frankly i don't think there are many politicans who their voters like. Biden was a safe bet, and despite the massive challenges he's faced I can't think of anyone else who could do better. trump would certainly have been worse.
