Israel 'Ready to Attack Iran' as Defense Minister Says 'We Need to Take Military Action'

Israel 'Ready to Attack Iran' as Defense Minister Says 'We Need to Take Military Action'
Brendan Cole 12 hrs ago
Israel's defense minister Benny Gantz has said that his country is ready to attack Iran and that there must be a global response to the threat that the Islamic republic poses.

His comments come amid growing tensions following a deadly drone strike on an Israeli-operated tanker off the coast of Oman.

Israel, along with the U.S. and the U.K. have blamed Tehran for the attack on the Mercer Street last week that killed two people. Iran has denied involvement.

"Israel is ready to attack Iran, yes," Gantz told Ynet on Thursday.

"We are at a point where we need to take military action against Iran. The world needs to take action against Iran now," he added according to a translation of his comments tweeted by Ynet journalist Attila Somfalvi.

How would we know we are on the right side of this?
Or do we simply support Israel as an ally?
We have no allegiance with Iran.

Federal policy, Whatever the Feds see as in their best interest. I assume that would be to side with Israel.

I don't have answers to your questions.
But those 2 countries have long been attacking each other in niggling ways.
The threatened attack is unprovoked, & would be the start of much war.
It raises the question of whether Iran should be defended, & Israel prevented from such evil.

Did the miss ISIS storming through and the return of the Taliban?
I don't see how a global effort against Iran could end any differently.

Do you think Israel is evil?

So the world goes in, overthrows a regime, history just doesn't show a good outcome in the end. Such as Gaddafi, Hussein, and Bin Laden. Things in the long run just didn't improve, and America has a lot of responsibility for Iran being the way it is.
So, no. If Israel wants to do this they can do it on their own. I'm sure they're more than powerful enough.

I don't find any country to be evil.
But countries have perpetrated evil, eg, Ameristan.
What do you think?

OK, Nazi Germany was evil.

Edit:
I observe that viewing a country as "evil" tends to
deaden empathy, creativity, peacefulness, & values.

Iran has long seen Israel's threats, & has prepared.
Who would win? One? The other? Neither?
What if Iran & Israel both enlisted allies?
We have nuclear powers on both sides.

The middle-East unholy mess?

Iran is in trouble due to drought and other measures exacerbated by the impact of Trump's policies. The government wants to distract the people by provoking Israel and has been troublemaker in the region for decades besides.

Israel's policies in the West Bank etc are also to me seriously unhelpful and unproductive to resolving the mess.

Israel has a hard time directly reaching Iran with serious forces outside of nuclear-tipped missiles. They'd love to have the US or other nations supply to reach to attack Iran.

I think we're best served, all things being equal, to not get involved in a war between them should such break out.

We attacked Iraq & Afghanistan for less death than
an attack on Iran would provoke. We defended Kuwait
against Iraq's unprovoked attack.
Do our values only exist towards our allies? Apparently
so, given that we supplied Iraq with biological, chemical
& other weapons to use in their attack on Iran.

True, but history just does not bode well for a foreign invasion. It's a mess that consistently keeps getting messier and uglier the more outsiders keep intervening.

Which points to an Israeli attack on Iran being unproductive & evil.

There's a saying in go....
"Rich men don't pick fights."
If one is ahead in the game, picking a fight that could go either
way is to put an assured victory at risk. Israel would face a
greater existential threat by attacking Iran, given all the flared
tempers of nuclear powers who might enter the game.

How do they know it was Iran that attacked the tanker?

Leaving aside whether the US "should" defend Iran against Israel, from a practical, realistic standpoint there's no way a US President will send US troops to die in defense of Iran at all, let alone at the hands of Israelis.
