Dog People vs. Cat People

Meow Mix

Do you judge people at all based on whether they're dog people or cat people?

I find that I do and I can't put my finger on it. I irrationally assume that cat people are more likely to have more introverted traits for instance.

I love dogs as much as I love cats, but I'm a cat person. If I'm dating someone new, I take note of whether they're one or the other for instance. Is this just completely irrational? It doesn't really matter, but I catch myself noting it. (I'm dating a dog person right now, and I do love her dog).

This reminds me of a certain thread I created recently about the U-Hauls. The answer is that it's such a broad generalization it can't be true, yet containing great truth anyway. It is and it isn't true. One of those things like if you put two mirrors down, you may end up seeing multiple images of yourself, and you don't want to even try to figure it out.

Wait...you're a cat person?
I thought your username was some ironic nod to your dog-person status. Bugger. Well....I'm not sure we can talk any more, if you're a cat person. That's the end of that. Nice knowing you.

Oh, as to the OP? No...I would never judge people based on being a dog-person or cat-person. I'm far too nice for such judgemental behaviour. It would be...well...kinda catty to care. Ahem.

I don't know if cat people are more introverted but I do know that cat people are (on average) more individualistic. Dogs are pack animals and so are (most) dog owners. They separate people into those who dominate them and those who they can dominate. Cats don't care about that.

Phhht.

Cats separate the world into servants and food.

Dogs and I have had our occasional moments. However, I would choose...

You could argue that cat people are less needy, and can cope with being ignored. :p

Why I always gotta be a switch hitter? :p

I never got the cat/dog person personality type connection. I have and have had both. I see it all as a cultural affectation.

My cat instructed me on what to post, btw. :p

When I was out yesterday I saw someone talking to their dog as if they understood every word! Crazy or what. As soon as I got home I told my cat about it and we laughed and laughed.

Figured you'd be a dog person. FIGURED.
(Note : This is a joke. Don't try this at home)
Mostly a dog person.

However, after a REALLY tough day at work, a cat can be better to come home to.

Way more satisfying to punt a cat, and they tend to fly further.
