Tyson Foods to require COVID-19 vaccines for all US employees

How many place in others countries are requiring/making it mandatory for employees to get the vaccine?

This can be looked at in two ways...
1. We are going to force our workers to take the vaccine.
2. Its your choice. But you can't work here if you choose not to get it.

Tyson Foods announced Tuesday that all its U.S. employees will be required to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

According to a news release on the Tyson Foods website, employees are expected to receive their vaccines by Nov. 1.

The company expects leadership to complete vaccinations by Sep. 24. Office employees must be vaccinated by Oct. 1.

Our government is making it mandatory to get vaccinated and those who don't need weekly testing. I'm up for continued testing in hospitals, at least until they get a handle on the delta thing given some breakthroughs...though they quote it's rare.

Federal employees must attest to vaccination or submit to testing, per new Biden policy | Federal News Network

If it weren't a healthcare system I'd vote for weekly testing.

I'm figuring a Covid test costs about $100, who's going to pay for that?

I take the stance that it's probably for the best for some jobs to require you get the vaccine. It seems a worker safety and public safety issue. Remember, by working, you can get more exposure. What I don't think is best is to hypothetically, leave it all up to the government, either though. Seems an issue best decided by employers.

Saw that also. At least its a legitimate choice.

Tax payers and insurance.

In my opinion big insurance companies might partially be behind pushing mandatory vaccines. In America big money talks and makes things happen(or in some cases not happen).

Yet people who cant take the vaccine(for medical or whatever reasons) will still work in those places. Which means the mandate's aren't for everyone and loopholes will be exploited.

As far as I'm concerned - get the vaccine or don't work at any job with public or fellow employee contact. I've had it with selfish people making life difficult for the vast majority, filling up hospitals, interrupting business, hindering kids education. Selfish people who don't care one whit about the consequences to everyone including loved ones with their choice.

Like I suspected. Profiteering.

I agree*, if its that important, make it accessible and at no cost.

It's like telling disaster victims to pay for their room and board at disaster camps, or shelters.

*LOOK!! I just agreed here with my debating nemesis! Take a screenshot!

On a related... here in the UK the Costa Coffee chain require customers to be able to show they have been vaccinated. The funny thing is anti-vaxxers are screaming "Boycott Costa." So let me think this one through...they're going to boycott somewhere that they wouldn't be allowed in anyway. Carry on, I'll be having a coffee knowing I'm not sitting next to any covidiots.

In the UK healthcare workers are mostly told they have to be vaccinated unless they have a medically approved reason why not. This makes obvious sense to me.

I think the same should apply to those working in the handing of food preparation in refrigerated environments, because we know such environments encourage the spread of the virus (se.g. several nasty outbreaks in European slaughterhouse and poultry processing units last year). It is an employer's duty to provide a safe working environment for the employees. They don't allow smokers to force their smoke on other employees. They should not allow the unvaccinated to force their viruses on them either.

You'll never know who is unvaccinated. So, what else can one do unless you asked businesses before you shop there?

You do at Costa, though. That's the point.

Any vaccinated person can print off, or store in their mobile phone, a QR code from the NHS website as proof and scan it at any venue asking to see it. Simple.

Plus, I have my NHS card with the dates of my two jabs. :) (and a photo of it on my phone)

You have "passports" there in Costa Rica?

Here businesses say unvaccinated wear mask and vaxxer wear masks. But they don't check consumers so you don't know whose who.

Edit
"Vaccine passports" were introduced here in the states. NY has an app for that purpose. Not sure how other countries enforce it none less Costa rica
