If you go to a strip club, do you expect to have sex?

At the strip club...

  • I expect to tip dancers and not have sex. This is still fun for me, I do this knowingly.

Performing a little poll experiment to make a point to @PureX :

If you go to a strip club, are you expecting to have sex? Or are you aware that you're going to be tipping for drinks and tipping dancers to watch only?

Is watching dancers fun for you even if you don't get to have sex with them?

I would say if one goes to a strip club, there would be a desire or expectation for sex, though not necessarily with the entertainers, and not necessarily at the club, but perhaps after.

I don't go to a pizzeria to smell the pizza.

ETA: After consideration, I think it's also dependent on one's reason for going. I remember my elder daughter went to a strip club with friends when she turned 18. I think it was less about sex and more about the fact that she could.

If one goes in a social setting, it's less likely that there is a desire or expectation for sex. If one goes alone for the sole purpose of watching the entertainers, then it's more likely that the desire or expectation for sex is present.

Couldn't vote in your poll because it didn't have an option, "im usually too broke/tight*** to tip the strippers but I still enjoy watching them even though i don't expect to get laid by them".

But to answer your question, yes I do enjoy watching the dancers even if I don't get to have intercourse.

I had regulars that I don’t believe intended to have sex. Some people just go to drink and watch things and then go home.

Lotta straight girls do end up at strip clubs though, ha.

I went with the first option. I'm really not interested in going to strip clubs though so I'm treating it as a hypothetical. A few of my friends at university did pole dancing and burlesque* so I'd sometimes go with them as a show of support. It still felt a little awkward at times though and I certainly didn't expect to have sex with the dancers.

There was one occasion where a venue for a metal gig hosted a strip show once the gig was over. As it happens, the strippers were also prostitutes and paying for a private "dance" involved a lot more than dancing... Nope. Not interested.

Maybe that's why some people might expect to have sex with strippers? A strip club might just be a front for a brothel, similar to some massage parlors.

*Risque perhaps but they weren't strippers.

This is a thing that exists sometimes. Not in either of the clubs I worked at; as far as I knew none of my coworkers were doing anything on the side, at least not in the club.

Still, I think people understand they're not having sex going to a strip club (and they still have fun) for the most part.

Not a fan of strip clubs (never have been) but for various reasons I've been to a few in my day.

Mostly when entering I have some idea what type of club it is, in broad terms. Some are known for being super strict around touching, some less so.

Never really came across an expectation from those I was with that they'd get laid though. I'm sure it happens, but far as I know it's not the common outcome.

It is true that there are different levels of strictness. I only worked where I knew it was safe. Broadly though, I think the point stands.

I don't think this is just my spin but lap and strip clubs have always been seen as seedy. Maybe they still have them in the big cities, but I wouldn't be surprised if not. Sorry to link to the Daily Heil:

Councils across the UK use new law to shut strip clubs | Daily Mail Online

That's unfortunate, IMO; unless they were shut down for being unsafe or for being the actually dangerous kind of seedy (as opposed to the charming dive bar kind of seedy, which is exactly my kind of bar).

Plus I'd have a lot more student debt if it wasn't for clubs. A lot more. There weren't other opportunities that could pay that much.

I would expect to get laid.
But perhaps this is because there aren't strip clubs, strictly speaking, around here, in the sense that the brothels are the only place where you get to watch a strip-tease.
