Spunk and its return

I may have had an icky 24 hours as the result of lack of sleep, recovering from a cold and overestimating what I can do such as chores yet, and this is a hard one to talk about, but kind of questioning my faith. But I feel better today. How I know this is I'm feeling spunky. When I blame others for not seeing the joy in what I do, rather than myself, I know that my spunk that keeps me going, as unbearable as it might be - has returned and I'm getting back to better health.

And yes, I do think one of my biggest mistakes was doing too many chores, when I just wasn't there yet.

I feel kind of proud in a way of the accident I did with the title. But for British people... do you think it will be interpreted in such a way that I should change it?

The two uses of the word are not so far apart when you think about it. Both are synonymous with an irrepressible life force…

Me too. But i think thats just a Britishism

I feel like you Britts tend to make things dirty that are innocent by nature. It's a real pain in the fanny when it happens, and it beats the pants off of me how you guys came to make spunk into something gross. Wash your mouths out! :D

Spunk as semen has been in use since the Viking era, way way before America was even invented and leave my fanny out of this :innocent:

Oh! I didn't know that. I knew that a lot of curse/lower class words were Germanic in origin, but I hadn't heard that one yet. Kind of funny how a lot of those words were used in normal language but didn't become "bad words" until much later. :)

Yes a lot of anglo saxon and viking words have become swear words over time. Still, i do use some of them on occasion, must be my viking roots

At least we can say “arse” without fear of censorship ;)

Yahhh... Us Americans can be oversensitive when it comes to language for sure. It feels like some of us respond to curse words the same way people in Monty Python and the Holy Grail respond when they hear NI! :D
