Taking this here, from the "sex before marriage" thread.

Why would you say I’m ignoring? I’m telling you how I came to know and understand that Jesus is God.
How you came to know and understand Jesus is understood, Elijah. The facts as conveyed prior to you is that the source of this "knowledge" was pruned and cultivated long before either of us were born, so that you would arrive at exactly that conclusion. Including altering Isaiah in translation so that Jesus' coming was "foretold".

My understanding came from me reading the Bible not from a council. Why don’t you see that?
Your understanding from that Bible comes directly in the form of the message that the Council of Laodicea wanted you to receive. But I know why you won't see that.

EDIT: Corrected specific Council of which Biblical Canon was set.

You mean Satan wants a redo cause he lost? The gospel has always been the same. I received the message that God wanted me to receive, was confirmed when God gave me His Spirit and I was born again. This is something hard for people to comprehend unless they experience that themselves.

The gospel has always been the same.

Actually the Gospels as you can read them today, albeit in a translation from Ancient Greek, were established in the 4th and early 5th century though their first iteration came around the late 1st and early 2nd century. The most famous late change to a Gospel was in the Gospel of John in an addition of the 5th century where the famous story of Jesus saving an adulterous woman from stoning with his famous catchphrase "let he who has never sinned cast the first stone" was first mentioned. We actually have older copies of the Gospel of John which do not contain this passage. It seemed to have been added to make the story more poignant. These types of alterations were probably common as the Gospels were written.

The Gospel is this: That Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
This is the Gospel message that hasn’t change

That phrase could just as easily have been removed from some versions.

In fact even Ignatius got into debates with people over certain scriptures that Ignatius claimed were in the originals but these people used corrupt versions that had removed some passages or portions of passages. So even since the time of Ignatius people had been removing certain passages from the gospels and epistles.

The idea that the one without sin should cast the first stone would probably get under the skin of certain people who did not like the idea that they should be held to the same standards as the people they are condemning. This is why the would be likely to remove this passage.

Wait... Are you saying that you acknowledge that the bible has been altered? Not many Christians I've known have been able to admit that.

No but when I read the Bible it does say that some manuscripts don’t include this or that. Depends on the version or translation.

I don't know what inane response I expected, but it certainly wasn't including "tHe DeViL DiD iT!!!" :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Sure, the gospel has "always been the same". Minus the quite literal 13+ gospels that the Council of Nicaea didn't include in the Biblical Canon because it didn't fit their narrative. And then the centuries of rewrites, mistranslations, alterations, and further pruning. Before you go outside today, especially if you're going to be driving, be sure to take off that blindfold first.

I suppose it would be equally futile to point out that, thanks to Augustine of Hippo, ever since around 10,400 HE, your perception of Satan has been massively twisted from the original Hebrew thanks to the monotheistic "Problem of Evil", and you couldn't truly identify your devil from the next wight over.

You make it seem like Hebrew Scriptures aren’t available and believers don’t search out the scriptures or the original language. Satan is described pretty well in the Bible
