I saw a baby possum today

Has anyone ever seen a baby possum? It was really small, the cutest thing I have ever seen! People say that possums are ugly but I think they are beautiful and I wait for them to show up on my deck every night. The other night two showed up together, which is rare, a smaller one and a larger one, and they were different colors. I should have put two and two together and realized there were babies somewhere. Now I know.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

I had one in my kitchen once. Had to scoot the critter out.

No opossum was hurt in the eviction.

Opossums eat ticks, beetles, slugs, and snails. The kill any local snakes being they are immune to the venom. They don't carry rabies. They also will catch and eat cockroaches, rats and mice.
I never kill one. They are very beneficial to have around.
And FYI, the babies are called joey's.

I'd be scooting him out too, because otherwise my cats would get him, if he was a baby.
Once when we lived in our older house a possum got through the pet door and into the bedroom where the cats were and that really scared me because they have big teeth!

They also eat bird food and dog food. Who would ever kill any animal? Not me.

This one was a full grown adult. Possums hunt and kill snakes which those teeth come in quite handy.

All in all they are not really aggressive and it was scared of me more than I was of him.

I just took some boxes and made a makeshift corridor to the door and he just ambled on out of the house with some gentle prodding to get him going, and happily reunited with the great outdoors once again.

That was nice of you... Yes, they are pretty scared of people, but they seem to get along pretty well with my raccoons, and that share the same food dish.

Yes! They're adorable when they're babies. I once helped a baby mole find his mommy, no matter if she was vermin.

I wouldn't call moles vermin. They eat mainly earthworms and insect larvae. Some of the insect larvae that they eat definitely qualify as pests. What people do not like about them are the unsightly tunnels and holes they leave in the process of hunting for their food. But they do not eat crops or spread disease.

Poor choice of a word. My bad. Admittedly, all baby animals are cute. :p

I like possums and I have seen babies on occasion. We used to have an adult possum that would come into the carport and eat the cat food. My mother made us leave it alone, because she liked that it was there when she came home in the evening. Not that we would have done anything to it
