Little Bit Of Disagreement

At least she's trying to do what the previous president refused to do and even made far worse by cutting all aid to the Northern Triangle Countries.

It's fair to say that Harris is failing spectacularly to handle the border issue, but I have to believe that she at least cares in some way, shape, or form about these people even if the Biden-Harris actions are having a harmful effect on foreign countries, on the U.S., and on the migrants themselves.
She stated that people should not simply come to the U.S. So, maybe, in some small way, she is starting to realize what the core problem is: massive unregulated displacement of people. She even stated that she now plans to eventually visit the border! Good for her! :) When will that be? She can't say... :(
Progress might be slow, but, in some ways, progress might be inevitable. We'll see though. Hope for the best, but expect the worst.

On the other hand, she still seems to think that the core problem is conditions in other countries. In other words, she ascribes to the idea that if conditions improved in certain other countries such as Guatemala, then people would stop wanting to escape to the U.S. The reality is closer to: people would want to migrate to the U.S. even if conditions in their own countries improve (because personal freedom in the U.S. is still better).

Of course, improving conditions in other countries is a wonderful aspiration! But her approach appears to be to give countries that perpetuate worse conditions more money... Is she just incompetent?

Maybe instead of a border wall, the U.S. should set up euthanasia stations. As long as it's all done with the maximum comfort of the ill-fated migrant in mind, they'll undoubtedly wind up happier than they are at home or in the U.S. ;):D:rolleyes:

There's an old adage that "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure".

She's doing the right thing, imo, but I want to see what's next before giving my final "verdict". Trump's removal of all aid to the NTC was both nonsensical and terribly malicious, lacking even the most basic humanitarian and Judeo-Christian ethics.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about this guy and his most recent shenanigans as President:
Wikipedia on Alejandro Giammattei said:
Guatemala experienced a political crisis in November 2020, following the adoption of a controversial budget. Most of the funds are earmarked for privately managed infrastructure and neglect the fight against poverty and child malnutrition, which affects nearly half of all children under five, while generating an increase in public debt. Congress was burnt down following the repression of a demonstration by the police, while the Vice President, Guillermo Castillo Reyes, calls on Alejandro Giammattei to resign for "the good of the country ". This crisis came at a time when the government was also facing criticism for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as hospitals quickly became saturated and the Ministry of Health was accused of withholding information about the pandemic.
